A blade storage array is detachably mountable with a tissue log cutting saw. The saw has a cutting arm with a tool holder receptacle adapted and configured to hold a circular saw blade for the saw. The array has a plurality of storage units. Each storage unit is adapted and configured to store a circular saw blade for the saw. Each storage unit has a tool holder receptacle adapted and configured to hold a circular saw blade. Each storage unit is adapted and configured to move perpendicularly to the saw blade center axis.

SAWMILL SYSTEM WITH BIDIRECTIONAL BANDSAW CAPABILITY USING OPPOSITELY DIRECTED SINGLE-SIDED BLADES
20210086393 · 2021-03-25 ·

A sawmill for cutting logs in successive bi-directional passes that includes a pair of horizontally extending beams, a carriage assembly and a saw head mounted atop the carriage assembly. The saw head includes a band saw drive source and at least one set of first and second band saw blade wheels. First and second band saw blades partially circumscribe the first and second band saw blade wheels with the cutting edge of the first and second band saw blades directed oppositely from one another so that as the carriage assembly and saw head travel along the frame the log is cut by the first saw blade and as the carriage assembly and saw head reciprocates on the beams in the opposite direction, a second section is cut from the log by the second band saw blade.

POLE MILL OPTIMIZER

Classing and inspecting poles and pilings is a manual process that, due to human error, results in inaccurate, inconsistent products and a waste of resources. An automated method and device for inspecting and classing poles and pilings and keeping a real-time inventory comprising a conveyance system, pole profiler, counting wheel encoders, cutting device, control console, and real-time database provides a more accurate product in less time and at a lower cost.

Tiltable Carriage Assembly And Sawmill Incorporating Same
20210008751 · 2021-01-14 ·

A sawmill assembly comprising a bed, a carriage and a tilting device. The bed has a pair of substantially parallel rails that define a first plane, a first axis perpendicular to the first plane, and a second plane perpendicular to both the first plane and a longitudinal axis of the rails. The carriage is movably supported along the rails. The tilting device allows a user to adjust a tilt angle of the carriage in the second plane, relative to the first axis. Also disclosed are methods of adjusting a blade angle of the sawmill assembly, and methods of cutting a tapered piece from a workpiece material.

Sawmill with a rocking carriage

A sawmill for tree logs includes a rocking carriage to pick up fresh logs and feed them into the path of a saw blade, as well further provisions relating to improvements to infeed systems for the fresh logs, as well as to, outflow systems for transfer of sawn-off product to a production line conveyor or the like for further processing to downline processes after the first saw cuts on the fresh logs.

Log and cant optimization

Embodiments provide methods, apparatuses, and systems for cutting wood workpieces, such as logs and cants, into desired products. In various embodiments, after a log is chipped into a cant, the cant may be scanned and re-optimized based on the new scan data and information about the source log, such as simulated orientation parameters, a 3D model, and/or potential cut solutions. In other embodiments, data from multiple sensor types may be used in combination to detect splits in logs, cants, or both. Optionally, re-optimization and split detection techniques may be used in combination to improve wood volume recovery, value, and/or throughput speed.

MULTI-LENGTH BUCKING ATTACHMENT
20200316810 · 2020-10-08 ·

A bucking apparatus to be used in conjunction with a loader and topping saw that are mounted to a logging platform or trailer. The bucking apparatus is attached to the loader and includes a plurality of hatches. The hatches can be adjusted for different lengths so that different length logs can be cut when eliminating faults from the trees. The hatches of the bucking apparatus are measured to be particular distances from the topping saw and so, when a tree is pulled through the topping saw with the loader, the end being held can be aligned with one of the hatches, and then the saw can be engaged thus creating a log of the particular length.

PIVOTING RATCHET TOE BOARD
20200298437 · 2020-09-24 ·

An adjustable toe board, an adjustable toe board assembly, kit and sawmill comprising the adjustable toe board are provided. The toe board comprises a baseplate having a first end, an opposed second end, and a rod extending away from the baseplate. The toe board includes a support bar pivotably coupled to the baseplate proximate the first end, spaced apart from the rod, and extending towards the second end, the support bar being configured to support a log. The toe board also includes a ratcheting arm pivotably coupled to the support bar, the ratcheting arm having a plurality of spaced-apart teeth defining notches adapted and positioned to selectively engage with the rod, wherein selective engagement of the teeth with the rod enables pivotal adjustment and releasable locking of the support bar relative to the baseplate during operation.

SLASHER SAW SYSTEM
20200282587 · 2020-09-10 ·

A slasher saw system connectable to a source of hydraulic power which requires only three hydraulic lines for power and operation. First, a pressure/power hydraulic line is actuated to turn the saw on and bring the saw down to cut through a stack of timber. Second, the hydraulic pressure/power to bring the saw down is actually provided via back-pressure from a return line returning hydraulic fluid to the source of hydraulic power from the saw. Third, a separate line is used to power the hydraulic cylinder used to raise the saw arm again.
