Equipment stabilizer for a pull cord start
09745939 · 2017-08-29 ·

An equipment stabilizer for a pull cord start that secures a piece of equipment, such as a chain saw, to a base plate via lockable jig clamps and assists in pulling the pull cord start by providing a pulley operated by a foot pedal. Ratchet straps pass through a horizontal slot through the base plate. An upright beam on the base plate front side has vertically aligned apertures proximal an upper side thereof for spring tension adjustment. A pulley operationally connects a pedal member of the foot pedal to a handle of the pull cord start. Pressing on the pedal member while holding onto the vertical beam moves the pull cord start handle toward the wheel end to start a motor of the piece of equipment.

A chainsaw includes a housing having a handle housing portion, a motor housing portion, and a drive housing portion. The handle housing portion has a longitudinal axis that defines a first axis of the chainsaw. The chainsaw also includes a motor having an output shaft with a longitudinal axis that defines a second axis of the chainsaw, a driven gear coupled to the output shaft, a sprocket coupled to the driven gear, and a guide bar extending from the drive housing portion and having a longitudinal axis that defines a third axis of the chainsaw. A chain is supported on the guide bar and engaged with the sprocket. The first axis, the second axis, and the third axis are generally coplanar, and the first axis and the second axis define a first included angle between about 75 degrees and about 95 degrees.

A mechanism for reducing time-lost to tedious but necessary adjustments while using a chainsaw is disclosed, as well as methods of manufacture and use. An embodiment has a metal part fitting inside a plastic handle portion, where the two are sometimes assembled in two halves and then pressed molded or fastened together, in the form of a pull-handle positioned at the end of a starter-cord on a chainsaw. Another embodiment has the metal part containing a flat-blade screwdriver surface at one end, which matches and mates with some type of slotted adjustment fixture within the chainsaw; and where the other end has a socket wrench which matches up with an adjustment bolt within the chainsaw. Yet another embodiment has a dog-bone (socket) wrench fitting at one end, and a flat-blade at the other end.

Vegetation pruning device

A vegetation pruning device includes a pair of pivotably coupled handles and a motor having a rotary output drive for driving an endless flexible cutting chain. A guard is moved relative to the chain by pivoting of the handles relative to each other to grip vegetation between the guard and the chain. The motor is actuated by pressing each of a pair of elongate triggers at any position along the length of the triggers.
