Timber Processing System and Method
A timber processing system includes a frame including a mount for attaching to a skid steer, tractor, excavator, or the like; and a grapple attached to the frame for moving timber pieces into place for cutting by a saw.
LUMBER LOADING SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SIMULTANEOUS LOADING AND LONGITUDINAL DISPLACEMENT OF SUCCESSIVE LUMBER PIECES USING SAME
A lumber loading system for transferring lumber pieces. The lumber loading system comprises a driving shaft rotating about a longitudinal axis; at least one lumber piece grasping assembly operatively connected to the driving shaft and rotating about the longitudinal axis; and a longitudinal positioning system connected to the at least one lumber piece grasping assembly. The at least one lumber piece grasping assembly is displaceable along the longitudinal axis and is operative to initially grasp a section of a corresponding lumber piece extending longitudinally substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis, temporarily maintain the section of the lumber piece and subsequently release the lumber piece. The longitudinal positioning system moves each one of the at least one lumber piece grasping assembly independently along the longitudinal axis, during rotation thereof about the longitudinal axis. A method for simultaneous loading and longitudinal displacement of successive lumber pieces is also provided.

Automated compound retrieval and delivery of lumber
An automated lumber handling method for transferring various size boards from multiples board storage stations to a common board-receiving area uses a trolley that carries at least two board pickers that can operate independently. The method provides several operating modes. In a first mode, a first board picker retrieves single boards from various stations, while a second board picker is inactive. In a second mode, two board pickers retrieve two individual boards from a single station. In a third mode, one board picker retrieves one size board from a first station, and s second board picker retrieves a different size board from a second station. The two different boards can be released simultaneously at the board-receiving area. In some examples, the lumber at each station is laser scanned to determine the number of boards at each station, and a worker is notified if a station needs to be restocked.
Material processing system
A material processing system includes: an offsetter configured to receive a stack of material and including a lifting bar configured to lift a portion of the stack of material; and a processing station operably connected to the offsetter. A method of processing a material includes: loading a stack of material on an offsetter, the stack of material including a first portion and a second portion, the first portion positioned above the second portion and separated from the second portion by at least one cross tie, the stack of material including a first end and a second end distal from the first end; lifting the second portion away from the first portion by a lifting bar of the offsetter pushing upward on the second end; and removing the cross tie.
Cross-Laminated Timber Panel Having a Conduit Therein
A cross-laminated panel including a first layer, a second layer, and a third layer. The first layer of the cross-laminated panel having first boards oriented in a first direction. The second layer of the cross-laminated panel having second boards oriented in a second direction, the second direction being substantially perpendicular to the first direction. The third layer of the cross-laminated panel having third boards oriented in the first direction. The cross-laminated panel also including adhesive situated between each of the first layer, the second layer, and the third layer. The cross-laminated panel further including a hollow member forming a conduit and disposed in any one of the first layer, the second layer, and the third layer.

SAWMILL WITH A ROCKING CARRIAGE
A sawmill for tree logs includes a rocking carriage to pick up fresh logs and feed them into the path of a saw blade, as well further provisions relating to improvements to infeed systems for the fresh logs, as well as to, outflow systems for transfer of sawn-off product to a production line conveyor or the like for further processing to downline processes after the first saw cuts on the fresh logs.
Log handling device and method for log handling
A log handling device, having a rotatable rotor provided with a log handler, and a feeder attached to the rotor for conducting an operating medium to the log handler. The feeder is arranged to wind around the rotor when the rotor is rotated in a first direction, and which feeder is arranged to unwind from around the rotor when the rotor is rotated in a second direction. The log handling device includes a rotatable second rotor to which the feeder is attached, and an operating device for rotating the second rotor synchronously with the rotor, such that the feeder is arranged to wind around the second rotor when the rotor is rotated in the second direction, and such that the feeder is arranged to unwind from around the second rotor when the rotor is rotated in the first direction.
