Woodturning gouge for the fabrication of bowls
The present invention surrounds a gouge for use in woodturning, particularly in the fabrication of wood bowls, wherein the gouge is configured to provide longer reach with decreased deflection. The decreased deflection allows safer and more efficient woodturning process, resulting in better quality woodturning products. The gouge includes an inner cutting profile which is offset upward from the center of the outer profile, thus providing more structural rigidity when extending the tool from a tool rest and into the concavity of a bowl being turned.

Cutting element and the use thereof
A cutting element, which is configured for the machining of a non-metallic composite material composed of a matrix and particles held together by the matrix, has a flank face, a rake face and a cutting edge which is coated with an edge coating and via which the flank face and the rake face are connected to one another, with which the non-metallic composite material can be machined in an improved fashion. The cutting edge within a cutting edge section thereof is curved in such a way that the cutting edge immediately beneath the edge coating in a section in a section plane that is perpendicular to the cutting edge has, at every point of the cutting edge section, a local radius of curvature which is greater than or equal to 10 m and less than or equal to 80 m.

A drilling needle includes a needle head at one end of a needle shank. The needle head has a flattened wedge portion with two wedge faces and a cutter portion with two cutting faces, which each adjoin one of the wedge faces and adjoin one another at a top edge that runs at a right angle to an axis of rotation. The needle head has on each side a relief face, which forms a cutting edge with each of the cutting faces. The cutting edge forms, with the respective other one of the cutting faces, a secondary edge that trails with respect to the direction of rotation. A relief angle, spanned by a virtual straight line through the cutting edge corner and a secondary edge and a plane that extends perpendicular to the top edge in the axis of rotation, lies in a range from 6 to 10.
