METHOD FOR CONTINUOUS ACETYLATION OF WOOD ELEMENTS
The disclosure relates to a method for continuous acetylation of wood elements. The acetylation is conducted with an acetylation medium at a pressure of at least 1.5 barg in a substantially oxygen free environment. Alternatively, the method includes the steps of: (a) feeding wood elements in a substantially oxygen free environment to a continuous acetylation reactor, and (b) treating the wood elements with an acetylation medium in the continuous acetylation reactor under wood acetylation reaction conditions, at a pressure of at least 1.5 barg. The process can acetylate wood elements to a high acetyl content in an efficient way, without compromising on the quality of the material. The acetylated wood elements can be used in the production of medium density fibreboards with superior qualities such as dimensional stability and durability.
Process of making compreg multi-colored laminated wood and utility, ornamental, decorative products thereof
The invention is a process including the steps of manufacturing of compreg laminated wood and transforming the wood thus obtained to ornamental and utility products, including steps of quality checking, veneer selection, Impregnation of veneer with solution of dye and thermosetting resin, drying in kiln, glue spreading followed by bunching, followed by cooling resulting in creation of slab, followed by trimming & cutting of slabs into strips of small sizes, shaping drawing on the sheet as per the profile required, shaping and profiling by CNC Router Machines, grinding and shaping by expert craftsman to bring out the color patterns, end rounding for smooth edges, grinding using various grits of emery wheels for surface finish, polishing/buffing for mirror like surface finish.
Portable electromagnetic wave drying apparatus and method for in-situ drying of structural members in wood-frame construction
A portable electromagnetic wave drying apparatus is provided for the in-situ reduction of moisture in structural members within a wood frame construction. The apparatus comprises at least one electromagnetic wave generation assembly and an electromagnetic wave applicator. Also provided is an electromagnetic wave treatment method for the in-situ reduction of moisture content in a structural member within a wood frame construction. The method comprises contacting a portion of the structural member with electromagnetic waves for a period of not more than 30 minutes and then allowing the structural member to rest for a period of not more than 90 minutes. The apparatus and method are useful in the remediation of wood frame structures that have been exposed to flood waters.
Treatment of wood
The present invention relates methods for heat treatment of wood. The invention further relates to wood obtainable by the methods of the invention as well as the use of the method for preparing treated wood. The method comprises the step of pressurising said airtight tank (4) to a predefined pressure (P.sub.1) in order to establish a pressurised environment for said wood (6). The method comprises the step of placing said wood (6) in an airtight tank (4) and heating said wood (6) to a predefined temperature (T.sub.2, T.sub.3). The predefined pressure (P.sub.1) is kept so high that the water in the wood (6) cannot evaporate at the predefined temperature (T.sub.2, T.sub.3).
METHODS FOR ENHANCING THE PRESERVATION OF CELLULOSIC MATERIALS AND CELLULOSIC MATERIALS PREPARED THEREBY
Methods for treating cellulosic materials comprising introducing a liquid treating composition into the cellulosic material, the treating composition comprising a solution prepared from at least: (i) one or more of a copper amine complex or copper amine complex, such as copper tetraamine carbonate, (ii) one or more of ammonia or a water-soluble amine and (iii) water; and exposing the cellulosic material provided thereby to carbon dioxide and/or carbonic acid to provide treated cellulosic material, and treated cellulosic materials prepared thereby.
Process for partial delignification and filling of a lignocellulosic material, and composite material structure able to be obtained by this process
The invention relates to a process for treating a lignocellulosic material, preferably wood, comprising the following steps: (1) soaking of the material with organic fluid in order to dissolve at least 40% and at most 85%, in weight %, of the lignin of the material; (2) washing with organic fluid so as to discharge the dissolved lignin; (3) filling with a filling compound; and (4) finishing, so as to obtain a composite formed of a three-dimensional network of transformed filling compound incorporated into a cellulose and lignin network. The invention also relates to a composite structure able to be obtained in this way, and to any part comprising at least one such structure.
PROCESS FOR WOOD OIL MODIFICATION OF WOOD PRODUCTS
The present invention relates to a process for preparing a modified wood product wherein the wood is impregnated with water-based wood oils. In one embodiment, the wood is thermally modified prior to the impregnation. The present invention also relates to a modified wood product produced using said process.
WOOD TREATMENT COMPOSITIONS HAVING ANTIMICROBIAL PROPERTIES
The present application relates to wood treatment. More specifically, the present application relates to wood treatment compositions having antimicrobial properties, methods using the same and wood products treated therewith. The present application includes a wood treatment composition comprising: an antimicrobial additive comprising at least one tannin; and a water-based solvent. The present application also includes a method for treating a wood product to stop or prevent microbial growth applying a wood treatment composition on the wood product, and optionally applying a wax; wherein applying the wood treatment composition comprises heating at least one surface of the wood product and impregnating the composition.
Wood preservative and method for producing same
A synergistic aqueous wood preservative composition comprising a copper compound and penflufen. The copper compounds of the compositions of the invention may be soluble, partially solubilized or micronized particles. The penflufen of the compositions of the invention may be solubilized, emulsified or particulate. The wood preservative compositions of the present invention are surprisingly provided as stable dispersions and confer surprising and unexpected resistance to treated wood and wood products.
