A process for the production of OSB wood-based panels including: a) producing wood strands from suitable wood logs; b) treating at least part of the wood strands with steam at a temperature between 80 C. and 120 C. and a pressure between 0.5 bar and 2 bar; c) drying the steam-treated wood strands; d) gluing the steam-treated and dried wood strands and, optionally, gluing the non-steam treated wood strands with at least one binder; e) scattering the glued wood strands onto a conveyor belt; and f) pressing the glued wood strands into an OSB wood-based board. The steam treatment takes place after the wood strands have been produced and made available, or after the wood strands have been sifted and separated according to the use of the wood strands for the middle and top layers of the panel. Also, an OSB wood-based panel made using the process.

BARK REMOVAL APPARATUS FOR CHIPPING MACHINE
20190291298 · 2019-09-26 · ·

An apparatus for use in debarking logs that includes a debarking assembly for separating bark from logs as the logs are passed through the apparatus, such that the separated bark falls away from the logs. A contact surface catches falling bark that has been separated from logs by the debarking assembly. A pusher reciprocates over the contact surface and includes a first pusher face that pushes bark over the contact surface. A magnet reciprocates with the pusher and may be selectively activated and deactivated. When the magnet is activated, a magnetic field is provided proximate the first pusher face such that magnetically attracted portions in the bark that are brought within the magnetic field as the pusher reciprocates are magnetically attracted to the first pusher face by the magnetic field and are separated from the bark.

Debarking Drum, Method and System for Debarking of Wood

A debarking drum (1) for the debarking of wood (2) has an essentially horizontal cylindrical drum (10) supported to revolve around its longitudinal axis. The drum has a first end (12) and a second end (14) with an inner surface with inwardly projecting longitudinally extending debarking iron sections (16). Bark openings or slots (20) extend through the drum inner surface (18) and multiple rigid studs (22) protrude inwardly from the inner surface (18) and are positioned between the debarking iron sections (16). The studs operate to break the bark (3) of the wood (2) for debarking. The studs (22) are positioned along a partial length (L) of the drum (10) between the first end (12) and the second end (14). The invention also relates to a method and system for the debarking of wood by the debarking drum.

Log Processing Head

A log processing head with a top knife and moveable feed means and delimbing and/or debarking means pushing a log against the top knife by means of actuators. In order to allow the top knife to follow the contour of the log without damaging a pin holding the knife, a pivot joint is used between the knife and the connection of the pin on the structure.
