GREEN WOOD ADHESIVE
The present invention relates to an adhesive aqueous composition comprising a polysaccharide or a residual fraction from a pulping process comprising polysaccharide and an amine-functional polymer. The weight ratio between the polysaccharide and the amine-functional polymer is from 1:4 to 4:1; wherein the polysaccharideis hemicellulose or gum and with proviso that the composition has a pH of 6 or less when the amine-functional polymer is chitosan.
Binder Materials
The invention provides a method for preparing a binder precursor, the method comprising the steps of: i) mixing (A) fungi or glucan and (B) starch with an alkaline agent in the presence of an aqueous solvent system to form an alkaline composition; ii) mixing the alkaline composition with an acidic agent to form a mixture; and iii) drying the mixture and forming a powder therefrom, so as to form a powdered binder precursor.
NOVEL AQUEOUS ADHESIVES USING SACCHARIDE FATTY ACID ESTERS
The present disclosure describes aqueous adhesives comprising, inter alia, adhesives and saccharide fatty acid esters, particularly unsaturated fatty acid esters (uSFAE), including aqueous adhesive compositions containing such a combination and where such aqueous adhesive compositions show improved water resistance compared to adhesives which do not contain said uSFAE. Articles of manufacture comprising said aqueous adhesive compositions are also described.
ADHESIVES GENERATED FROM SOYBEAN MEAL AND DISTILLER'S DRIED GRAINS WITH SOLUBLES
The invention relates to bio-based adhesives comprising seed flour and distiller's dried grains and solubles (DDGS). The seed flour may be soybean seed flour, and the bio-based adhesive my contain a 50:50 mixture of seed flour and DDGS. The invention also relates to methods for using such bio-based adhesives in the preparation of composite wood panels.
Thermoplastic poly acrylated glycerol adhesives useful in cellulosic products
The present invention relates to an adhesive comprising a thermoplastic polyacrylated glycerol polymer, water, and a cross linker that is reactive with the polyacrylated glycerol polymer. This adhesive is useful in the formation of cellulosic products including oriented strand board (OSB), particle board, oriented structural straw board, chipboard, plywood, laminated veneer lumber (LVL), pressed wood, glued laminated timber (glulam), cross-laminated timber (CLT), and other wood products. Methods of producing the adhesive and cellulosic products are also disclosed.
Binder Compositions and Uses Thereof
The present invention relates to a new aqueous curable binder composition comprising a polyphenolic macromolecular compound which bears a multitude of catechol radicals (dihydroxybenzene), preferably lignosulfonate salts and condensed tannins and mixtures thereof, and a polyamine functional compound comprising primary and/or secondary and/or tertiary and/or quaternary amine functional groups, suitable for bonding particulate matter, such as fibers, more particularly mineral wool fibers, or particles, such as wood particles.
APPARATUS FOR RECYCLING OF LIGNOCELLULOSIC FIBRES FROM FIBREBOARDS
The invention related to an apparatus for recycling of lignocellulosic fibres from a fibreboard comprising compressed lignocellulosic fibres bonded together by a binding agent. The apparatus comprises a transport device arranged within a closed housing, wherein the housing is arranged for steaming pieces of the fibreboard at super-atmospheric pressure to decompress and release the lignocellulosic fibres by hydrating them, as well as hydrolysing the binding agent, and the transport device is arranged for transporting the fibreboard pieces, upon being steamed, from an inlet of the housing, at which the fibreboard pieces are fed to the housing, to an outlet of the housing, at which steamed portions comprising released lignocellulosic fibres exit the housing. Further, the apparatus comprises a steam generator in communication with the housing, whereby the fibreboard pieces may be steamed at super-atmospheric pressure in the housing to provide the steamed portions comprising released lignocellulosic fibres, an inlet pressure lock configured to receive the fibreboard pieces at atmospheric pressure and to deliver them to the housing, via the inlet, at super-atmospheric pressure, and an outlet pressure lock configured to receive steamed portions comprising released lignocellulosic fibres via the outlet and ejecting recycled lignocellulosic fibres during a sudden expansion of super-atmospheric pressure.
MODIFIED DEODORANT UREA-FORMALDEHYDE (UF) RESIN AND USE THEREOF, AS WELL AS PARTICLEBOARD AND PREPARATION METHOD THEREOF
The present disclosure provides a modified deodorant urea-formaldehyde (UF) resin and use thereof, as well as a particleboard and a preparation method thereof, and relates to the technical field of wood-based panels. Raw materials for preparing the modified deodorant UF resin provided by the present disclosure include: melamine-modified UF resin (MUF), aluminum ammonium sulfate dodecahydrate, wax, and water. Raw materials for preparing the MUF include: urea, formaldehyde, and melamine. When the modified deodorant UF resin provided by the present disclosure is used to prepare wood-based panels, the aluminum ammonium sulfate dodecahydrate losses 12 crystal water during hot pressing to form a metastable structure NH.sub.4Al(SO.sub.4).sub.2, in which NH.sub.4.sup.+ can react with the formaldehyde to reduce formaldehyde emission, and NH.sub.4.sup.+ and A1.sub.3.sup.+ can absorb hydroxyl groups of organic substances to form hydrogen bonds to reduce odor of the wood-based panels.
Stackable molded articles, and related assemblies and methods
Molded articles are provided. An exemplary molded article includes an inner panel portion, a main body portion, and a contoured portion extending between and interconnecting the inner panel portion and the main body portion so as to surround the inner panel portion and be surrounded by the main body portion. The contoured portion includes contoured corner segments and contoured elongated segments extending between respective pairs of the contoured corner segments. The contoured corner segments have a first maximum thickness. The contoured elongated segments have a second maximum thickness that is greater than the first maximum thickness. Related methods, assemblies, and apparatus are also provided.
