A method for producing a roof tile having a water barrier, wherein the water barrier is shaped onto a roof tile blank, which is supplied onto a lower mould, of a shaping unit, with a shaped piece and a shaping stamp that can move in relation to same. The shaped piece is placed on an upper side of a top end of the roof tile blank, and the shaping stamp is pressed against the top end of the roof tile blank, such that material of the roof tile blank is pressed into a shaping mould of the shaped piece. The roof tile blank is also arranged below the shaping unit and the shaping unit is vertically lowered onto the roof tile blank. The invention also relates to a roof tile produced according to this method having a water barrier shaped thereon.

A method for forming a plugged honeycomb article includes feeding a ceramic precursor material through an extrusion die, the extrusion die having a plurality of pins, a plurality of cavities bounded by adjacent pins, and alternating end-faces of the plurality of pins include extensions extending from an outlet of the extrusion die in an extrusion direction. The method further includes extruding the ceramic precursor material through the extrusion die to form a web structure comprising a plurality of cell walls and channels bounded by adjacent cell walls, supporting the web structure that has been extruded through the extrusion die, and providing movement between the extrusion die and the web structure in at least one direction substantially orthogonal to the extrusion direction while the extensions are positioned in at least a portion of the channels.

In a method of making a gaseous emissions treatment component, a green ceramic mix is extruded through a die to form an extrusion having cells extending along the extrusion, the cells being bounded by walls dividing adjacent cells from one another. In concert with the extruding, metal is fed through the die with the extruded mix. A length of the extrusion and associated metal is then cut off and fired to form the component.

The absorbent layer can include pH modifying components. The apparatus can be applied to concrete after hydration water is applied. The apparatus can enclose concrete members during transport so as to continue the curing process during transport. The film can be used as a barrier layer between the ground and poured concrete. The apparatus can be manufactured by heating a film to its crystalline softening point, applying adhesive material to an absorbent material, and adhering the film to the absorbent material. A method of curing concrete includes pouring concrete, waiting for the concrete to reach the bleed stage, providing hydration water, adding a pH modifying component to the hydration water, and applying the hydration water with the pH modifying component to the poured concrete.
METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR PLUGGING CELLS OF CERAMIC STRUCTURES AND HONEYCOMB FILTERS
A method for plugging a subset of cells of a honeycomb structure that includes: covering a first end face of the honeycomb structure with a mask that comprises a body and a plurality of openings, wherein the plurality of openings of the mask is coincident with a plurality of cells of the honeycomb structure; providing a plug of material upon a film material; applying a force to the film material to push the plug of material through the plurality of openings of the mask and into the plurality of cells of the honeycomb structure; and measuring a pressure within the plurality of cells during the applying step, wherein the applying step further comprises adjusting the force applied to the film material based at least in part on the pressure within the plurality of cells to push the plug of material to a predetermined depth within the plurality of cells.

A method for producing a honeycomb structure 1 having a slit 12 includes: a first step of preparing a honeycomb structure 1 being free from slit, and forming the slit 12 leaving at least a part of the outer peripheral wall 10 or the partition wall 11; after the first step, a second step of filling the slit 12 with a joining material 13; and after the second step, a third step of removing at least a part of the outer peripheral wall 10 or the partition wall 11 left in the first step to obtain the honeycomb structure 1 having the slit 12 that divides the honeycomb structure 1.
Exhaust filter with active plugs
A ceramic honeycomb body having intersecting walls that form channels extending axially from a first end face to a second end face and plugs to seal the channels at least at one of the first end face and the second end face. The plugs include a first active component, such as a catalytically active component or a chemically active component, of the plug structure, wherein the intersecting walls comprise no first active component and optionally have a second active component of the wall structure or disposed on the walls. Included are methods of making the ceramic honeycomb body having plugs of the first active component and walls with no first active component.

The present invention describes a ceramic tile with raised patterns and a method for producing raised patterns on a ceramic tile that comprises printing one ink followed by printing a second ink characterised by being insoluble in the previous ink, so as to form a raised pattern with a height of 50 micrometres to 500 micrometres. Finally, the ceramic tile is fired at a maximum temperature of 850 C. to 1300 C.
