Container for the storage and/or fermentation of alcoholic beverages
A container for food liquids, in particular for the storage and/or fermentation of alcoholic beverages, has a body in which a substantial portion of the walls of the container is made of a ceramic material with controlled porosity. The body of the container is shaped as a truncated pyramid, in which each of the faces of the side wall includes a slab of ceramic material with controlled porosity, and in which a support structure made of cementitious material is formed along the external corners of the side wall and in correspondence with the bases of the truncated pyramid. Axial openings are defined in the bases of the container and are adapted to cooperate with suitable closing members.
LIGHT TRANSMISSIVE COMPOSIT COMPONENT AND METHOD OF FORMING THE COMPONENT
A method of forming a light transitive composite component. The method comprises inserting at least one light transmitting component 3, an organic substrate 6 and bonding agent 10 into a mould 1. Allowing the bonding agent 10 to mature to bond both the light transmitting component 3 and the organic substrate 6. Treating the contents of the mould with either heat or chemicals to terminate the maturation process of the bonding agent. The organic substrate is preferably a woody substrate while the bonding agent is preferably fungal mycelium.
Pre-fabricated component for an additively manufactured wind turbine tower structure
A method of manufacturing a tower structure includes providing an additive printing device having at least one printer head atop a support surface. The method also includes positioning a pre-fabricated component adjacent to the support surface. The pre-fabricated component is constructed of a composite material reinforced with a plurality of reinforcement members. Further, portions of the plurality of reinforcement members protrude from the composite material. Moreover, the method includes printing and depositing, via the at least one printer head, a cementitious material onto the support surface to build up the tower structure layer by layer around the pre-fabricated component. Thus, the portions of the plurality of reinforcement members that protrude from the composite material reinforce the cementitious material around the pre-fabricated component.
FOAMED GLASS AGGREGATE-CONTAINING CEMENTITIOUS BLOCKS
Systems and methods are disclosed for producing a shaped cementitious article comprising mixing foamed glass aggregate particles, Portland cement, and water, placing the mixture into a mold, applying vibration and/or pressure to the mold, removing the mold, and then curing the molded concrete article. The shaped cementitious article may be a concrete block (e.g., a solid block, a hollow block, a flue, a curb, or a paver). The concrete block may be a relatively lightweight formed concrete block defining a hollow interior portion (e.g., “cinder block” shaped).
Ceramic matrix composite airfoil cooling
Airfoils for gas turbine engines are provided. In one embodiment, an airfoil formed from a ceramic matrix composite material includes opposite pressure and suction sides extending radially along a span and defining an outer surface of the airfoil. The airfoil also includes opposite leading and trailing edges extending radially along the span. The pressure and suction sides extend axially between the leading and trailing edges. The leading edge defines a forward end of the airfoil, and the trailing edge defining an aft end of the airfoil. Further, the airfoil includes a trailing edge portion defined adjacent the trailing edge at the aft end of the airfoil; a plenum defined within the airfoil forward of the trailing edge portion; and a cooling passage defined within the trailing edge portion proximate the suction side. Methods for forming airfoils for gas turbine engines also are provided.
HEATING CORE, ELECTRONIC CIGARETTE, AND PREPARATION METHODS THEREOF
A heating core includes a conductor and an e-liquid absorber. The conductor includes a cavity and the e-liquid absorber is disposed in the cavity.
Non-corroding stripping lifting inserts for precast insulated panels
A stripping lifting insert is provided for precast insulated panels having an insulating material layer between opposing wythes, the insulating material layer, wythes, and precast insulated panel having respective widths. The stripping lifting insert includes an elongated connecting shaft having a shaft axis. First and second spaced apart wythe engagement members are connected to the connecting shaft in spaced apart relation to each other. Each wythe engagement member includes a hub and a plurality of three or more protrusions connected to and emanating from hub. Each of the protrusions extending radially outward from the shaft axis. The wythe engagement members have a height less than the width of the wythes, whereby each wythe engagement member can be completely embedded in a respective wythe of the precast insulated panel. A precast insulated panel and a method of making a precast insulated panel are also disclosed.
Tooling inserts for ceramic matrix composites
The disclosure describes a system that includes a controller configured to receive a representation of a three-dimensional geometry of a preform, determine a set of dimensions of the preform from the representation of the preform, and determine dimensions of at least one insert for a fixed tooling based on a dimensional tolerance of the preform, the set of dimensions of the preform, and dimensions of the fixed tooling.
RUBBER CONCRETE PRODUCT
Disclosed is a concrete product incorporating rubber aggregate produced by casting under pressure. The concrete product may optionally be cast at 6.9-27.7 MPa for periods of, for example, 24 hours. In one embodiment the rubber aggregate may comprise coarse and/or fine rubber aggregate to replace natural sources of coarse and fine aggregate. Casting under pressure was found to generally improve the performance characteristics of the concrete when compared to corresponding concrete cast without pressure.
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING COMPONENTS FROM CONCRETE AND CONCRETE COMPONENTS PRODUCED BY MEANS THEREOF
The invention relates to a formwork element for a formwork system for concrete building purposes, in particular for integration into a construction plane of the formwork system, having a box-like supporting body (1, 2) facing away from the concrete, having an upper side (6) facing the concrete in use, having a recess (3) in the upper side (6) for the fastening of concrete-facing forming means (11; 11′; 35) which can be fastened on/in the recess (3), having a vacuum-permeable spacer (14; 17) having a plurality of passage openings (16), and having connection devices (7, 8, 9) for applying a vacuum, wherein a plurality of forming means (35) can be reversibly fastened by means of vacuum at the top side (6). The invention also relates to a formwork system having such a formwork element and a concrete component which has been created with the formwork element or the formwork system.
