Mixing System For Cementing Applications
A technique facilitates various types of cementing applications, such as a downhole cementing applications along a wellbore. The technique utilizes a mixer having a rigid body and a flexible skirt disposed along at least a portion of the interior of the rigid body. The mixer further comprises a cement blend inlet and a fluid inlet through which cement blend and fluid are introduced into the mixer to form a cement slurry. The flexible skirt is constructed to enable selective deformation, e.g. flexing, during formation of the cement slurry to reduce or prevent the formation of cement slurry caking within the mixer.
Para-aramid-reinforced gel for plaster rehabilitation
Described is a thixotropic para-aramid gel that includes a polymer resin, an alkali-soluble anionic thickener, an adhesion promoter, and para-aramid pulp fibers. The polymer resin includes at least one of an acrylate copolymer and a styrene-acrylate copolymer. Also described is a method of producing the para-aramid gel for plaster reinforcement. The method includes mixing the polymer resin, the alkali-soluble anionic thickener, and the adhesion promoter to create a thixotropic gel, and then spinning para-aramid pulp fibers into the thixotropic gel using a high shear mixer. A method of reinforcing a plaster ceiling is also described. The method includes inserting a plurality of fasteners into a visible surface of the ceiling, leaving a portion of each fastener exposed at or above the visible surface, and applying a layer of the para-aramid-reinforced thixotropic gel to the visible surface and encapsulating the portion of each fastener within the layer.
Slurry distributor, system and method for using same
A slurry distribution system can include a feed conduit and a distribution conduit in fluid communication therewith. The feed conduit can include a first feed inlet and a second feed inlet disposed in spaced relationship thereto. The distribution conduit can extend generally along a longitudinal axis and include an entry portion and a distribution outlet in fluid communication therewith. The entry portion is in fluid communication with the first and second feed inlets of the feed conduit. The distribution outlet extends a predetermined distance along a transverse axis, which is substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. The slurry distribution system can be placed in fluid communication with a gypsum slurry mixer adapted to agitate water and calcined gypsum to form an aqueous calcined gypsum slurry.
Concrete drum control, property prediction, and monitoring systems and methods
A drum control system includes one or more processing circuits having programed instructions to control a drum assembly to rotate a drum at a first, unmixed speed to mix drum contents received by the drum where the drum contents including ingredients of a concrete mixture, acquire drum contents data indicative of a property of the drum contents from a mixture sensor and monitor the property of the drum contents as the drum rotates, acquire a target property for the drum contents upon delivery, determine a second, mixed speed based at least partially on the target property, and control the drum assembly to rotate the drum at the second, mixed speed in response to determining that the property of the drum contents indicates that the ingredients have been sufficiently mixed.
System, method and apparatus for entraining air in concrete
A method of preparing a concrete composition for downhole injection includes utilizing a controller to control a process including circulating process water in a process water supply loop for a predetermined period while monitoring and controlling the temperature and flow rate of the process water, circulating aqueous-based air entrainment solution in an aqueous-based air entrainment solution supply loop for the predetermined period and controlling the flow rate of the aqueous-based air entrainment solution and after the predetermined period of time in which the flow of process water and aqueous-based air entrainment solution have stabilized, simultaneously actuating valves to divert and mix the process water, the aqueous-based air entrainment solution and compressed air to produce an air-entrained foam and mixing the foam with a concrete composition to be deployed downhole.
Method to control a mixer and corresponding mixer
A method to control a mixer includes an input to a control and command unit including a plurality of input data correlated to a formulation of a mix, a detection step to detect the values of an electric quantity characteristic of the electric power line of a drive unit in the mixer, a processing step where data is processed to calculate the overall active power, and to carry out verifications, comparing the data processed with one or more of the respective data introduced among the input data, in order to transmit to a controller that commands the mixer, a consent signal to discharge the mix or an anomaly signal.
A METHOD FOR MAKING A WATER/GYPSUM MIXTURE
The invention refers to the gypsum industry and the construction industry, in particular to a method for obtaining a water/gypsum mixture used to manufacture gypsum products. The technical result of the invention is continuous industrial manufacturing of water/gypsum mixture at critically low water/gypsum ratio while maintaining high fluidity of the mixture. The said technical result is achieved because a method for continuous manufacturing water/gypsum mixture at a water/gypsum ratio of less than 0.25:1 is implemented by using a portion of the mixture as a transport medium for introducing new batches of liquid and dry components and includes the following stages: pre-mixing a flow of fluid water/gypsum mixture and dry components; obtaining, in the mixer, a finished water/gypsum mixture with the specified water/gypsum ratio by intensively mixing the pre-mixed dry components and fluid water/gypsum mixture flow; releasing a portion of the finished water/gypsum mixture flow from the process cycle and returning the remaining portion of the finished water/gypsum mixture to the mixing process as a transport medium for introducing new components; obtaining a fluid water/gypsum mixture flow after adding liquid components to the remaining portion of the water/gypsum mixture flow with subsequent mixing.
