Stable thermochromics polymer films with vanadium dioxide nanowires

A thermochromic device includes a film and a number of vanadium dioxide nanowires disposed within the film. The film is manufactured by hot extruding a material that includes a polymer and a plurality of vanadium dioxide nanowires on a drum to form a rough film.

PROCESS AND APPARATUS FOR DIRECT CRYSTALLIZATION OF POLYCONDENSATES
20170218119 · 2017-08-03 ·

The present invention relates to a process for continuous production of partly crystalline polycondensate pellet material, comprising the steps of forming a polycondensate melt into pellet material; separating the liquid cooling medium from the pellet material in a first treatment space, wherein the pellets after exit from the first treatment space exhibit a temperature T.sub.GR, and crystallizing the pellet material in a second treatment space, wherein in the second treatment space fluidized bed conditions exist, and in the second treatment space the pellets are heated by supply of energy from the exterior by means of a process gas.

A debinder provides for debinding printed green parts in an additive manufacturing system. The debinder can include a storage chamber, a process chamber, a distill chamber, a waste chamber, and a condenser. The storage chamber stores a liquid solvent for debinding the green part. The process chamber debinds the green part using a volume of the liquid solvent transferred from the storage chamber. The distill chamber collects a solution drained from the process chamber and produces a solvent vapor from the solution. The condenser condenses the solvent vapor to the liquid solvent and transfer the liquid solvent to the storage chamber. The waste chamber collects a waste component of the solution.

A Method of Manufacturing a Distributed Acoustic Sensing Cable
20170259513 · 2017-09-14 ·

A distributed acoustic sensing cable package having a polymer composite extruded over an optical waveguide to encase the waveguide and to form a crystalline matrix layer acoustically coupled to the waveguide. The crystalline matrix includes reinforcement fibers to further enhance transmission of a cable strain to the optical waveguide. During manufacture of the cable, the polymer composite may be extruded over the optical waveguide and subsequently subjected to heat treatment to increase the crystallinity of the polymer composite and increase the elastic modulus. Both axial and radial strain fields are effectively interact with cased fiber waveguide for producing measurable phase shift signal for distributed acoustic noise detection.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR SUPPORT REMOVAL IN STEREOLITHOGRAPHIC ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING
20220040915 · 2022-02-10 ·

Systems and methods for making it easier to remove support structures printed in conjunction with printing an object using stereolithographic additive manufacturing are disclosed. In some exemplary embodiments, one or more interfaces between the printed object and the support structures are modulated to allow for easy separation between them, in some instances even when the object and support structures are made from the same material. Various modulation techniques are disclosed, including adjusting an intensity of exposure to light at interfaces between the object and support structures, and using two materials where one material cures at two wavelength ranges and the other material only cures at one of the two wavelength ranges. Other systems and methods that allow for easy separation of part and support structure are also described.

FLUID-CONTAINER AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING CRYSTALLINITY IN BLOW-MOLDED CONTAINER
20220234779 · 2022-07-28 ·

A fluid container having a proximal end having an end wall, a distal end having an open-ended neck, and a sidewall extending between the proximal end and the distal end along a longitudinal axis is described. A localized crystallinity of a polymeric material of the fluid container of at least a first region of the fluid container is greater than a crystallinity of a polymeric material of the fluid container of at least a second region. Examples of fluid containers include medical fluid containers, such as medical bottles and syringes, including rolling diaphragm-type syringes, and commercial beverage containers Articles of manufacturer formed form a polymeric material and having regions with increased localized polymeric crystallinity are also described.

Increasing electrical conductivity at selected locations of a 3D object

A device includes a coater, a dispenser, and a treatment portion. The coater is to coat, layer-by-layer, a build material relative to a build pad to form a 3D object. The dispenser is to at least dispense a fluid including a first at least potentially electrically conductive material. In at least some selected locations of an external surface of the 3D object. The treatment portion is to treat the 3D object to substantially increase electrically conductivity on the external surface of the 3D object at the at least some selected locations.

Moulded Polyurethane Hydrogels

The technology relates to a method of producing a moulded polyurethane hydrogel, for example a condom. The method involves forming a solution of at least one polyurethane having a molecular weight of between about 40000 to about 500000 in a water:organic polar solvent comprising less than about 40% (v/v) water; applying a layer of the solution to a mould; drying the layer of the first solution to form a polyurethane film on the mould; and contacting the polyurethane film with a swelling agent under conditions such that the film forms a polyurethane hydrogel with a swelling agent content of between about 1% to about 95%.
