An optical element includes a first substrate having a first surface, a resin member disposed on the first surface, and a second substrate disposed above the resin member with a joining member interposed therebetween. The resin member has a first region contacting the joining member and a second region surrounding the first region and not contacting the joining member. An inclined portion having a thickness increasing from a starting point located in the second region toward an outer circumference of the resin member, is disposed in the second region. A tangent of the first surface, orthogonal to a normal of the first surface passing through the starting point, and a straight line passing through the starting point and a point at which the inclined portion has a largest thickness, form an angle of 25° or more and 45° or less.
Method for producing medical device
A method of producing a medical device having a substrate and a hydrophilic polymer layer, including the steps of: pretreating the substrate by placing the substrate in an alkali solution and heating the substrate at a temperature ranging from 50° C. to 100° C.; and heating a solution containing the pretreated substrate, a hydrophilic polymer having an acidic group and a hydroxyalkyl group, and an organic acid at a temperature ranging from 50° C. to 100° C. Provided is a simple method of producing a medical device imparted with hydrophilicity excellent in durability.
Method of manufacturing a lens with an embedded foil
A lens with an embedded foil is produced, comprising the steps of providing a first mold and a second mold, providing a functional foil, positioning and attaching the functional foil on the first mold, aligning the second mold relatively to the first mold, sealing the mold cavity between the first mold and the second mold, and filling a curable monomer mixture into the mold cavity, wherein either the molds are heated before the alignment step or the molds are heated after the sealing step and the following filling step is conducted with a heated monomer, or the heating of the molds follows the filling step of the UV curable monomer, followed by a UV curing step of the heated UV curable monomer mixture within the heated mold cavity.
Lens casting with deformable molds
A casting method involves providing a precursor to a mold that includes a deformable surface overlying a chamber, shaping the deformable surface according to a surface profile by adjusting a fluid pressure within the chamber and driving one or more actuators that are configured to distort the deformable surface, and solidifying the precursor while the deformable surface is shaped according to the surface profile to form an optical element.
INKJET METHOD FOR PRODUCING A SPECTACLE LENS
An inkjet method for producing a spectacle lens and fluids that can be used in an inkjet method for producing a spectacle lens are disclosed. The inkjet method includes the following steps: a) providing a substrate to be printed on, b) applying to the substrate to be printed on from step a) at least two volume elements applied adjacently and/or adjoining one another, c) transferring the at least two volume elements applied adjacently and/or adjoining one another from step b) into at least one volume composite, d) transferring the at least one volume composite from step c) into at least one homogeneous volume composite, e) transferring the at least one homogeneous volume composite from step d) into at least one final volume composite.
OPTICAL FILMS AND METHODS OF MANUFACTURING SUCH OPTICAL FILMS
A method of manufacturing an optical film includes providing a base film. The base film includes a substrate defining a first surface and a second surface. The base film also includes a plurality of structures defining an upper surface and at least one side surface extending from the corresponding upper surface to a base portion. The method also includes depositing a catalyst material on each of the plurality of structures and the base portion to form a catalyst layer thereon. The method further includes selectively removing the catalyst layer from the upper surface of each of the plurality of structures and the base portion while retaining an activity of the catalyst layer on the at least one side surface of each of the plurality of structures. The method includes forming a metallic layer on the at least one side surface of each of the plurality of structures.
CONTACT LENS AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREOF
A contact lens includes a lens body and a color ink layer. The color ink layer is embedded in the lens body and includes a plurality of color ink membrane thicknesses. The color ink membrane thicknesses are different from each other. The color ink layer includes a plurality of color ink elements, and the color ink elements include M types of areas, in which M is a natural number greater than one. The color ink layer further includes color ink membrane thicknesses from a first color ink membrane thickness to a (1+n)-th color ink membrane thickness, in which n is a natural number greater than zero. These color ink membrane thicknesses and the M types of areas form M*(1+n) units of color ink concentration, and the M*(1+n) units of color ink concentration forms a multicolor pattern in the lens body.
