MANUFACTURING A FLEXIBLE CONTAINER

A method of manufacturing a flexible container (1) housing a drug substance, comprises: forming a first compartment (11) of the container (1) out of a flexible sheet-like material, filling a liquid (2) into the first compartment (11) of the container (1), sealing the first compartment (11), forming a second compartment (12) of the container (1) out of the flexible sheet-like material, filling a dry drug formulation (3) into the second compartment (12), and sealing the second compartment (12). The method further involves lyophilizing the drug formulation inside a tubular cartridge such that the dry drug formulation (3) is generated and held in the tubular cartridge, wherein filling the dry drug formulation (3) into the second compartment (12) comprises: introducing the tubular cartridge holding the dry drug formulation (3) through an opening of the second compartment (12) of the container (1) such that an open end of the tubular cartridge is positioned distant from the opening of the second compartment (12), providing the dry drug formulation (3) out of the open end of the tubular cartridge into the second compartment (12), and withdrawing the tubular cartridge out of the opening of the second compartment (12) of the container (1). The first compartment (11) is separated from the second compartment (12) by a frangible seal (14) which opens when the first compartment (11) is compressed.

DIAGONAL FAN WHEEL WITH INCREASED STRENGTH

A diagonal fan wheel (1) has a cover disk (2) and a bottom disk (3). A plurality of three-dimensionally curved blades (S) are arranged between the cover disk (2) and bottom disk (3). The blades (S) are connected to the cover disk (2) and bottom disk (3) in a materially bonded manner.

A tamper evident container includes a base with a base rim adjoining a base hinge panel and a lid with a lid rim adjoining a lid hinge panel. A hinge connects the panels. A frangible line extends from an edge of the lid hinge panel to a first point on the panel and then outwardly to the hinge. The frangible line crosses the hinge and extends inwardly to a second point on the base hinge panel. From the second point the frangible line extends to an edge of the base hinge panel. When the container is initially sealed, the frangible line separates upon the application of an upwardly directed force to a first portion of the lid hinge panel while a second portion of the lid hinge panel is held in a fixed position or moved downwardly. The separation of the frangible line creates two grasping portions that can be used to pull the lid from the base.

Actinically curable adhesive composition with improved properties

Described herein is an actinically curable adhesive composition, suitable for sealing flexible packaging, that includes an inert urethane polymer and an ethylenically unsaturated monomer component selected from at least one monofunctional ethylenically unsaturated monomer, at least one multifunctional ethylenically unsaturated monomer, and a combination thereof, wherein the ethylenically unsaturated monomer component disperses the inert urethane polymer. The compositions are suitable for forming flexible packaging materials for foods and other materials, particularly sensitive materials. Also described are flexible packaging materials and a method for preparing an actinically curable adhesive composition.

Disposable containers with a tamper indicative hatch for sample removal, methods of manufacturing and using the same are described; the containers are configured with a closure essentially obstructing the hatch, so that upon opening the hatch, the container bears a visually apparent indication that the closure has been subjected to tampering and opening.

Fluid transfer assembly, a fluid transfer system, and a related method

Fluid transfer assemblies for transferring fluid into or out of a single vessel and distributing the fluid to multiple other vessels are provided. The fluid transfer assemblies are customizable, substantially aseptic, and single-use. The fluid transfer assemblies may be manufactured by solidifying polymeric materials to form a body around a mandrel with protrusions engaged to fluid conduits and leaving recesses in the solidified polymeric material to stretch the resultant body and remove the mandrel with protrusions. The resultant fluid transfer assembly may be surrounded by a rigid housing and valves may be engaged with the conduits and/or body to control the fluid flow within the fluid transfer assembly.

Manufacturing apparatus

A manufacturing apparatus for assembling a container including a sleeve, a bowl cover with a cavity, a closed state clamshell with a hinge having a mating protrusion, and a flexible strip having a primary and secondary end portions that are affixed with adhesive between the cover and clamshell. The manufacturing apparatus includes a base, a spindle, with primary and secondary radially extending platforms, respectively supporting primary and secondary cradles with the bowl and clamshell disposed therebetween the cradles that are rotated. The manufacturing apparatus also includes a guide slidably engaged to the base, wherein the guide directs the strip to be helically wound about the clamshell and cover with a base slide mounted adhesive nozzle that affixes the primary and secondary end portions of the strip to the cover and clamshell with a head that cuts and holds the strip with the head slidably engaged to the base.

POLY(GLYCOLIC ACID) FOR CONTAINERS AND FILMS WITH REDUCED GAS PERMEABILITY

Compositions of high molecular weight poly(hydroxy acid) polymer having good thermal stability and a weight average molecular weight of >100,000 by GPC. The compositions include one or more chain-terminator compounds/impurities which may be incorporated into the polymer and rendered harmless by the presence of appropriate amounts of bi-functional and multi-functional polymerization initiators. A process including first mixing glycolic acid and/or lactic acid (with chain-terminators), and a diol or di-acid initiator, and at least one multifunctional initiator to form a liquid monomer mixture in an agitated polycondensation reactor. Next, polycondensing to form a liquid reaction mixture comprising a pre-polymer having a weight average molecular weight of >10,000 by GPC, and greater than 80% by mole hydroxyl or carboxyl end-group termination, then crystallizing to form a first solid reaction mixture. Then, solid state polycondensing the solid reaction mixture to form a solid reaction mixture having a moisture level less than 50 ppm by weight. Then, mixing the solid reaction mixture with an appropriate reactive coupling agent in a melting and mixing extruder to couple and form the reaction mixture and form the final poly(hydroxy acid) polymer.

CONTAINER PACKAGING

There is provided a packaging for a container wherein the packaging is formed from a plurality of shell pieces that are hinged together to wrap around the container. When wrapped around the container, a first shell piece is secured to a second shell piece using a two-point locking feature. The shell pieces are formed with a substantially constant wall thickness such that the packaging substantially conforms to the shape of the container. Thus, advantageously, any distinctiveness in the shape of the container is not lost when wrapped by the packaging.
