Thermal curing of cell-based structural arrays
Cells of a composite cell array are cured by placing tool blocks in the cells and inserting thermally conductive elements in each of the tool blocks. The thermally conductive elements are convectively heated by a flow of hot air. The heated conductive elements conduct heat to the tooling blocks, which then conduct heat to the cells to cure the composite and adhesive.
Process for manufacturing an acoustic panel reinforced by at least one thermoplastic composite layer
A process for manufacturing an acoustic panel including at least one acoustically resistive layer, at least one cellular structure and a reflective wall. The process includes steps of depositing the parts of the acoustic panel made of thermosetting composite, depositing a film made of thermoplastic resin that is miscible with the thermosetting composite at the polymerization temperature of the thermosetting composite, polymerizing the parts of the acoustic panel made of thermosetting composite, and depositing and consolidating at least one layer made of thermoplastic composite against the film made of thermoplastic resin in order to form the reflective wall.
Honeycomb structure
A honeycomb structure has partition walls defining a plurality of hexagonal cells the partition walls are constituted by combining standard partition walls having a partition wall thickness in a range smaller than 10% to an average partition wall thickness of the partition walls, wide partition walls having a partition wall thickness of +10% or more to the average partition wall thickness, and narrow partition walls having a partition wall thickness of 10% or less to the average partition wall thickness, and a non-standard partition wall ratio is in a range of 10% to 30% which is a ratio occupied by a subtotal number of non-standard partition walls obtained by adding the wide partition walls and the narrow partition walls in a total number of the partition walls which is obtained by adding the numbers of the standard partition walls, the wide partition walls and the narrow partition walls.

Acoustic paneling
Systems and methods are provided for acoustic paneling. One embodiment is a method for fabricating an acoustic panel. The method includes receiving a sheet of thermoplastic paper, stamping/conforming the sheet into rows that each comprise a three dimensional shape, and transforming the sheet into a multi-celled core. Transforming the sheet includes identifying fold lines separating the rows, folding the sheet at the fold lines in a pleat fold, thereby uniting upper surfaces of adjacent rows and uniting lower surfaces of adjacent rows; and compressing the rows of the folded sheet together in the presence of heat, causing adjacent rows to fuse together into cells. The method further includes applying a backing sheet to the core, and applying a facesheet to a surface of the core that includes openings which direct a portion of airflow across the facesheet into the cells, resulting in acoustic control.
Efficient Sub-Structures
A component, including a part, comprising a honeycomb-like structure formed from at least a seamless resin-infused fiber composite material. The honeycomb-like structure includes a first plurality of cells, and a second plurality of cells, different than the first plurality of cells.
Multicomponent polymer resin, methods for applying the same, and composite laminate structure including the same
Embodiments disclosed herein relate to polymer resins having a first thermoset and one or more additional components (e.g., a second thermoset and/or a thermoplastic), composite laminates including the same, methods of making and using the same, and composite laminate structures including the same.
Fused Porogen Process for Acoustic Septa Fabrication
An example method for manufacturing a multicellular structure for acoustic damping is described that includes applying a porogen material to a solid support, inserting a multicellular frame into the solid support and through the porogen material so as to fill cells of the multicellular frame with the porogen material, fusing the porogen material, removing the multicellular frame from the solid support, and the multicellular frame contains a suspended fused porogen network attached to walls of the cells of the multicellular frame. The method also includes applying a solution to the suspended fused porogen network in the cells of the multicellular frame to percolate the suspended fused porogen network, curing the solution, and removing the suspended fused porogen network from the multicellular frame resulting in porous septum membranes of the cured solution in cells of the multicellular frame.
Reinforced composite structure
A reinforced composite structure that includes multiple regions of different geometric configurations connected together by a transition region. The reinforced composite structure includes reinforcement fibers on at least a portion of the transition region.
ACOUSTIC ATTENUATION PANEL COMPRISING A FRONT SKIN AND A CENTRAL STRUCTURE
An acoustic attenuation panel for a propulsion assembly includes an acoustic front skin having perforations, and a central structure formed from partitions arranged perpendicularly in order to make up cells, wherein the front skin and the central structure form the panel which is made as a single piece and is provided for directly covering a surface of an element of the propulsion assembly forming a rear skin which closes the cells of the central structure at the rear.
