A method for producing solidified fiber bundles includes applying a melt or solution to a carrier web forming a viscous coating, applying parallel filaments under tension to the carrier web, and pressing the filaments into the viscous coating, forming an impregnate. The coating is partially solidified until a plastically deformable state of the impregnate is obtained by vaporizing the solvent, thermal curing and/or cooling. The impregnate is rolled onto a winding core to form a roll while maintaining a winding tension of the filaments in the impregnate. The outer roll is fixed on the winding core by a sleeve and/or by adhesive tape. The impregnate is solidified by vaporizing the solvent, thermal curing and/or cooling. The solidified impregnate is divided up to form solidified fiber bundles. A pressure produced by the winding tension of the filaments in the impregnate is exerted on the roll.

A method for manufacturing a plastic fuel tank including: a) inserting a plastic parison including two distinct parts into an open two-cavity mold; b) inserting a core, bearing at least part of a reinforcing element configured to create a link between the two parison parts, inside the parison; c) pressing the parison firmly against the mold cavities, for example by blowing through the core and/or creating suction behind the cavities; d) fixing the part of the reinforcing element to at least one of the parison parts using the core; e) withdrawing the core; f) closing the mold, bringing its two cavities together to grip the two parison parts around their periphery to weld them together; g) injecting a pressurized fluid into the mold and/or creating a vacuum behind the mold cavities to press the parison firmly against the mold cavities; and h) opening the mold and extracting the tank.

Multilayer ceramic composite and method of production
An aircraft part has a multilayer ceramic composite that includes an inner skin, a ceramic insulation core, and an outer skin. The inner skin includes a plurality of layers of fiberglass impregnated with a thermoset resin. The ceramic insulation core is sufficiently flame resistant to prevent penetration of a flame with a temperature of about 2000 degrees F. for at least 15 minutes when the aircraft part is directly exposed to the flame. The outer skin includes a plurality of layers of fiberglass impregnated with a thermoset resin. The multilayer ceramic composite is manufactured using a novel method that provides superior performance at a reduced cost.
