Cyanate ester dual cure resins for additive manufacturing
A method of forming a three-dimensional object is carried out by: (a) providing a cyanate ester dual cure resin; (b) forming a three-dimensional intermediate from said resin, where said intermediate has the shape of, or a shape to be imparted to, said three-dimensional object, and where said resin is solidified by exposure to light; (c) optionally washing the three-dimensional intermediate, and then (d) heating and/or microwave irradiating said three-dimensional intermediate sufficiently to further cure said resin and form said three-dimensional object. Compositions useful for carrying out the method, and products made from the method, are also described.
INKJET PRINTING METHOD, CURABLE COMPOSITION, INK, STORED CONTAINER, AND TWO-DIMENSIONAL OR THREE-DIMENSIONAL IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
An inkjet printing method is provided that includes irradiating a curable composition with ultraviolet rays emitted from a light-emitting diode having a peak illuminance in a wavelength range of from 265 nm through 300 nm to cure the curable composition. The curable composition contains water, a polymerizable compound, and a water-soluble polymerization initiator having local absorption maximum in a wavelength range of 300 nm or shorter. A mass content of the water is higher than a mass content of the polymerizable compound and the mass content of the polymerizable compound is higher than a mass content of the water-soluble polymerization initiator.
POLY(ACRYLONITRILE-CO-METHYL ACRYLATE) COMPOSITIONS INCLUDING A HINDERED AMINE LIGHT STABILIZER AND METHODS OF MAKING AND USING THE SAME
Poly(acrylonitrile-co-methyl acrylate) compositions comprising a hindered amine light stabilizer are described herein. A poly(acrylonitrile-co-methyl acrylate) composition may be in the form of a fiber, thread, yarn, and/or fabric. Also described herein are methods of making and using the poly(acrylonitrile-co-methyl acrylate) compositions and articles comprising poly(acrylonitrile-co-methyl acrylate) compositions as described herein.
Radiation-shielding material and manufacture thereof
Radiation-shielding composite materials and their methods of manufacture. Such methods may include adding a metal hydride to a hardenable matrix precursor, adding a reinforcing material to the hardenable matrix precursor, and hardening the matrix precursor to form a composite material that incorporates the reinforcing material and the metal hydride in a solid matrix. The resulting radiation-shielding composite materials are configured to attenuate incident radiation, and may be used in the construction of panels, laminate structures, buildings, and aerospace vehicles, among others.
Use of sacrificial agents in manufacture of gypsum wallboard
The present invention relates to the use of sacrificial agents to counteract the deleterious impact of gypsum contaminants on the effectiveness of certain stucco additives, particularly, water reducing agents and foaming agents, in a stucco slurry used to make gypsum wallboard.
Compounds and methods for the production of suckerin and uses thereof
Sucker ring tooth (SRT) proteins called Suckerins were identified from the sucker tissue of three distantly related Decapodiformes species. These proteins assemble into silk-like beta-sheet reinforced materials. The use of suckerin proteins to produce fibres, films and tissue scaffolds is also described.
BUILD MATERIALS FOR 3D PRINTING
Polymerizable liquids are described herein which, in some embodiments, can produce 3D printed articles of high resolution and desirable mechanical properties. In one aspect, a polymerizable liquid comprises an acrylate component, a polymeric additive, and a monomeric curing agent, wherein the acrylate component and monomeric curing agent are copolymerizable upon exposure to light. In being copolymerizable, the acrylate component and monomeric curing agent can form a copolymer. As described father herein, the monomeric curing agent can enable further reaction of the copolymer with one or more crosslinking species to link the copolymer with one more polymeric networks.
INJECTION MOLDED COMPOSITE BLANK AND GUIDE
This specification discloses an article of manufacture. The article of manufacture has at least one structural blank and at least one guide. The structural blank has a plurality of oriented fiber plies in a thermoplastic matrix. The guide has a plurality of random dispersed fibers in a thermoplastic matrix. The guide is affixed to the structural blank by injection molding and over molding the guide onto the structural blank. The article of manufacture can take a number of forms for use in industries such as aircraft, automobiles, motorcycles, bicycles, trains or watercraft.
PROCESS FOR ENCAPSULATING FRAGILE INSULATION MATERIALS WITHIN POLYISOCYANURATE
Embodiments of the present invention are based, at least in part, on the discovery of methods for encapsulating fragile insulation materials within polyisocyanurate foam to thereby provide a construction board having an advantageous balance of insulating properties and mechanical durability.
