POLYMERIC MATERIAL COMPRISING MODIFIED LIGNIN
A polymeric material comprising a first polymer and a second polymer where the first polymer is a natural or a synthetic polymer and the second polymer is modified lignin. The modified lignin is modified with an alkyl containing group via linker wherein the linker is an ether group and wherein the alkyl containing group is derived from fatty acid methyl ester.
MONOFILAMENT-REINFORCED HOLLOW FIBER MEMBRANE WITH SCALLOPED LUMEN
A hollow fiber membrane is formed by embedding a braid having a spiral open weave of monofilaments only, to avoid a whiskering problem. The open weave is characterized by contiguous, circumferential, rhomboid-shaped areas of polymer film separated by monofilaments. When the braid is supported on a plasticized PVA cable having a scalloped periphery, the braid can be infiltrated with membrane polymer which, when coagulated, embeds the braid positioning it around the lumen. The embedded spiral weave, free of any circumferentially constricting monofilament, allows the membrane to be biaxially distensible. The membrane has give not only in the axial or longitudinal direction but also in the radial direction. Give in the radial direction permits soiled membranes to be backwashed under higher pressure than in a comparable braid which is not radially distensible.

Processes for enhancing flame retardance and chemical resistance of polymers
Processes for increasing the chemical resistance of a surface of a formed article are disclosed. The formed article is produced from a polymeric composition comprising a photoactive additive containing photoactive groups derived from a monofunctional benzophenone. The surface of the formed article is then exposed to ultraviolet light to cause crosslinking of the photoactive additive and produce a crosslinked surface. The crosslinking enhances the chemical resistance of the surface. Various means for controlling the depth of the crosslinking are also discussed.
Colored polarizing films, colored polarizing sheets, and colored polarizing lenses, and methods thereof
A polarizing film is produced by swelling a polyvinyl alcohol film with water, uniaxially stretching it, dyeing it with an organic dichroic dye, and drying it, wherein a dichroic organic dye composition includes a combination of organic dyes having a dichroic ratio of 13 or higher used in an amount to keep the degree of polarization at 90% or more, and wherein the coloration dye composition comprises a combination of dyes having extremely low dichroic ratios of 4 or less or substantially having no dichroic ratio, laminating at least one layer of a transparent plastic sheet onto at least both sides of the polarizing film, curving the polarizing sheet so as to impart spherical or aspherical surfaces thereto to obtain a polarizing and injecting a transparent resin to the concave surface of the curved polarizing sheet to obtain an injection polarizing lens.

MOLDED PRODUCT MANUFACTURED FROM THERMOPLASTIC RESIN COMPOSITION
Provided is a molded product manufactured from a thermoplastic resin composition containing a polycarbonate-based polymer, a polysiloxane-polycarbonate copolymer, a polysiloxane-polyester copolymer, and a benzotriazole-based UV stabilizer having a molecular weight equal to or greater than about 1,800.
OPTICAL EYE TRACKING SYSTEMS AND METHODS
An eye tracking system for a head-mounted display (HMD) device. The system includes a lens assembly, an optical tube assembly, and an optical light guide. The optical tube assembly is coupled to the lens assembly, supporting the lens assembly and ensuring optical alignment with a display panel of the HMD device. The lens assembly is positioned close to the front end of the optical tube assembly, which is near the user's eye during use. The optical light guide transports light and is coupled to the optical tube assembly. The optical light guide includes a light input feature positioned rearward of the front end of the optical tube assembly that is configured to receive light from a light source. The optical light guide also includes a plurality of light output features positioned proximate to the front end of the optical tube assembly.
Monofilament-reinforced hollow fiber membrane
A hollow fiber membrane is formed by embedding a braid having a spiral open weave of monofilaments only, to avoid a whiskering problem common in prior art multifilament braid-supported tubular membranes. The open weave is characterized by contiguous, circumferential, rhomboid-shaped areas of polymer film separated by monofilaments. When the braid is supported on a plasticized PVA cable it can be infiltrated with membrane polymer which, when coagulated embeds the braid positioning it around the lumen. The spiral weave, free of any circumferentially constricting monofilament, when embedded in film, allows the membrane to be biaxially distensible. In other words, the membrane has give not only in the axial or longitudinal direction but also in the radial direction. Give in the radial direction permits soiled membranes to be backwashed under higher pressure than in a comparable braid which is not radially distensible.
Cross-linked polycarbonate resin with improved chemical and flame resistance
Disclosed herein are compositions including a cross-linked polycarbonate. The cross-linked polycarbonate may be derived from a polycarbonate having about 0.5 mol % to about 5 mol % endcap groups derived from a monohydroxybenzophenone. A plaque including the composition can achieve a UL94 5VA rating. Also disclosed herein are articles including the compositions, methods of using the compositions, and processes for preparing the compositions.
