Machine and method for paint-roller manufacturing with integrated final cutting online
10421229 · 2019-09-24 ·

A paint roller manufacturing system and method are described. In an embodiment, an inner strip of material and an outer strip of material are wound about a mandrel in offset relation. The inner strip of material and the outer strip of material each comprise material that results in a final paint roller which shrinks by less than 2.5 percent of the final paint roller axial length, or which has shrinkage that varies by less +/0.1%, upon hardening and setting. An adhesive is applied to at least a portion of the outer strip as it is wound about the mandrel. A length of fabric is wound about at least the outer strip to form a paint roller tube, and compression is applied to the paint roller tube while advancing the paint roller tube in a direction parallel to the mandrel. A precision measuring or sensing device is used to control a cutting device causing the cutting device to cut the advancing paint roller tube into pre-selected lengths prior to the paint roller tube hardening and setting.

This process for manufacturing a plastic part (1) having a first technical face and a second face, in a mold comprising a first shell intended to form the first face endowed with impressions intended to form technical members of the technical face and a second shell intended to form the second face, the first shell and the second shell delimiting a cavity that forms the part (1), comprises the following steps:providing a porous reinforcing element (3);draping the reinforcing element (3) over the first shell by covering the surface of the first shell and the impressions intended to form the technical members;retaining the reinforcing element (3) on the first shell by retaining means;bringing the first shell and the second shell together;injecting a plastic in order to fill the cavity, the plastic passing through the porous reinforcing element (3) in order to fill impressions intended to form the technical members;moving the first and second shells apart;ejecting the plastic part (1).

CATHETER SYSTEM WITH REINFORCED GUIDEWIRE SHAFT AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURE
20190269884 · 2019-09-05 ·

The present invention relates to a catheter system having a reinforced guidewire shaft and a method of manufacturing a reinforced catheter shaft. In particular, the present invention relates to a catheter shaft having two or more polymer layers and a reinforcement layer that is comprised of braids or a coil or combination thereof. The braided reinforcement layer may have a constant picks per inch (PPI) between braids or a variable PPI between braids. Similarly, the coiled reinforcement layer may have a constant pitch space between coils or a variable pitch space between coils. The reinforced catheter shaft may be manufactured by a continuous reel-to-reel process using liquid polymers that are heat-hardened or by a discrete process using extruded tube that is shrunk with heat.

Bonding of heat-activated films including a plasticizer

Articles including a polymer film, a plasticizer and a substrate are included. A method of bonding the film to the substrate includes the use of the plasticizer which provides a durable bond by using a lower temperatures and shorter bonding times than would be required in the absence of the plasticizer.

3D SPACER FABRIC REINFORCED PU COMPOSITE AND ITS USE

Described herein is a 3D spacer fabric reinforced composite, a process for producing it, a method of using it in footwear, and a footwear including it.

MATERIAL FOR USE IN LINING PIPES
20240157626 · 2024-05-16 ·

A material for use in lining pipes includes inlay yarns that are interlinked by warp-knitted yarns. One set of inlay yarns extends in a machine direction, contributing to the fabric's strength in this direction. Two further sets of inlay yarns follow paths that step alternately between displacements to the left and right. This construction results in a series of short lengths of yarn aligned to provide the fabric with cross-directional strength. The inlay layers are loosely held, allowing them to slide relative to each other and the straight inlay yarns may move apart to a small degree. The result is a strong, flexible fabric that retains sufficient expansion for use in a pull-in-place liner.

A method of preparing a multilayered pipe-lining fabric involves repeated steps of layering flat sheets above and below a flattened carrier tube, bonding the sheets, then flattening the structure along fold lines circumferentially rotated from the first. Longer length and larger diameter tubular structures may be fabricated by this method, particularly heavier fabrics, such as those incorporating glass fibres.

Processes for recycling carpet and products of such processes

Methods for the recycling of carpet are disclosed that produce clean face fiber suitable for industrial use. The methods allow the recovery of face fiber material, for example a polyester or a polyamide, from carpets that includes a face fiber material and a backing material, and include the steps of heating the carpet to a temperature lower than the melting point of the face fiber material, but higher than the initial thermal decomposition temperature of the backing material, for a time and at a temperature sufficient to thermally decompose, pyrolyze, or oxidize at least a portion of the backing material, rendering the backing material friable, that is more friable than the untreated backing; and applying mechanical force to the carpet so as to liberate the friable backing material from the face fiber material.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR FORMING A COMPOSITE LAMINATE STACK USING A BREATHABLE POLYETHYLENE VACUUM FILM

A method for forming a shaped composite structure. The method includes laying a composite laminate stack onto a mold, where the composite laminate stack comprises fabric laminate and resin and wherein the mold presents a predetermined shape, draping a vacuum film comprising polyethylene onto the composite laminate stack, thereby establishing an evacuatable volume between the vacuum film and the mold, applying suction to the evacuatable volume between the mold and the vacuum film to establish at least a partial vacuum within the evacuatable volume, thereby compressing the composite laminate stack via pressure applied to the vacuum film responsive to the at least partial vacuum within the evacuatable volume, and heating the composite laminate stack while applying suction to the evacuatable volume, thereby at least partially consolidating the laminate stack.

Extensible flexible hose, and method and production line for continuously manufacturing thereof

A hose that includes an inner layer and an outer layer made of an elastic polymeric material, and a textile reinforcement layer interposed between the inner and the outer layers. The inner layer and the outer layer are reciprocally coupled to form a unitary tubular member, within which the textile reinforcement layer is embedded. The unitary tubular member has an elasticity such to automatically elongate under the working pressure given by the liquid flowing therethrough to increase its original length and to automatically recover once the working pressure stops. The textile reinforcement layer is adapted to move from a rest configuration when the working pressure stops to a working configuration when the unitary tubular member elongates under the working pressure, and vice versa.

Bicycle wheel hub with molded spoke holes

A hub for a bicycle wheel includes a hub shell that defines one or more spoke holes. The hub shell includes a fiber reinforced material. The fiber reinforced material has one or more reinforcement fibers bending around the spoke holes to remain continuous around the spoke holes. One or more flanges with the spoke holes extend from the hub shell at an outer radial direction. A clutch or freehub adapter is coupled to the hub shell. Depending on the type of clutch mechanism used in the freehub, different clutch adapters can be incorporated into the hub.
