Method and Apparatus for Automated Animal Trapping
20170231215 · 2017-08-17 ·

Methods and apparatuses are shown for selectively capturing a targeted animal that are directed to capturing an animal in a capture module having a one way capture mechanism and, using instructions executing in a controller, sensing the animal in an identification module and, responsive thereto, capturing an image of the animal, analyzing the captured image to identify whether the animal is a targeted animal, if the animal is the targeted animal, processing the animal, and releasing the animal. Additional examples involve performing chromatic or pattern analysis on the captured image, using the chromatic or patent analysis results, searching a database for machine recognized animal colors or patterns, generating a probabilistic assessment based on color or pattern of whether the animal in the identification module is the targeted animal, and generating a target determination indication based on the probabilistic assessment based on color or pattern. Processing the animal may include injecting the animal using a syringe.

PEST ABATEMENT UTILIZING AN AERIAL DRONE

An aerial drone includes a pest sensor, an environmental sensor, a drone on-board computer, and a pest abatement mechanism. The pest sensor senses a pest based on emissions from the pest. The environmental sensor detects an environment of the pest. The drone on-board computer identifies a pest type of the pest based on the emission from the pest, and establishes a risk level posed by the presence of the pest based on the pest type and the environment of the pest. The pest abatement mechanism performs a pest abatement of the pest based on the pest type and the risk level posed by the presence of the pest.

A tamper-proof bait station system that is capable of being weighted down to prevent an animal from removing the bait station from a desired location being treated for rodent or pest infestation. The tamper-proof bait station also includes a locking cap or cover used to secure a cover and base together.

Container apparatus

A container apparatus for exposing an article to an external environment, the apparatus including a sidewall with an interior having an inner surface, the sidewall terminating in a first margin and an opposing second margin. The container apparatus also includes a capsule having an outer periphery and an inner void holding the article, the outer periphery is slidably engaged to the sidewall inner surface, the capsule having a split boundary separating the capsule into a plurality of partial capsule elements. The capsule having a closed state with the partial capsule elements being adjacent at the boundary while slidably engaged to the sidewall with the void separated from the environment and the capsule being able to have an open state without the slidable engagement as the partial capsule elements are separated at the boundary with the void open to the environment, thus exposing the article to the environment.

TIME RELEASE APPLICATION AND MONITORING SYSTEM

Provided herein are mechanisms and methods for the automated distribution of active ingredients (whether oral or contact based) to wild and domestic animal populations as well as a method for monitoring animal activity and estimating consumption and/or application of such ingredients within the population through the utilization of the mechanisms themselves. The inventive device pertains to a manner of delivering either an active oral ingredient or active contact ingredient within a bait pellet or like substrate for ingestion or external contact and/or coating of a target population. The device allows for controlled access of such a bait pellet (or like substrate) for such a target population coupled with the ability to retain freshness thereof for multiple timed access events without the need for human involvement. A properly sized, configured, and automated delivery device is thus provided to meet these needs. Delivery components are also encompassed herein.

A system and method of monitoring and controlling cellulose-consuming pests in a predetermined location provides for the use of an assembly that has a main body with a cylindrical upper portion and a lower portion continuously co-axially formed with the upper portion. The lower portion is formed as blades meeting at a lowermost point and defining a sharp bottom point that helps penetrate the soil in the selected location. A plurality of cellulose-containing bait units are detachably fitted in the lower portion and the upper portion. The bait units fitted in the lower portion are retained by the blade portions, which engage radial slots of the bait units. A moisture-retaining member is positioned in the upper portion above an uppermost of the bait units. A removable cap frictionally fittingly engages with the upper portion. The cap has an opening allowing water to be poured into the main body to moisten the bait units and make them more attractive to foraging insects. If consumption of the cellulose material is detected, the bait units may be substituted with a bait material containing poisonous substance. The pests consume the bait and carry the poison to the colonies.

A planar bait presenting device is described comprising a bait contact zone for receiving bait wherein the bait contact zone comprises a dose measurement guide and an ink display zone. A kit is also described comprising a plurality of the bait presenting devices and a backing sheet to which the devices are removably adhered. A method of displaying bait, is described which comprises adhering the device to a surface; and applying a discrete amount of bait to the bait contact zone. The method involves applying bait to the bait contact zone until the area defined by the dose measurement guide is substantially covered with bait. Also described are methods of displaying bait which comprise adhering the device to a surface and exposing a discrete amount of bait in the bait contact zone; and methods of enclosing bait in a hole which comprise inserting a discrete amount of bait into a hole and adhering the device to the surface surrounding the hole, thereby enclosing the bait in a hole.
