TRIM PANEL FOR AN EXTERNAL PILLAR OF A MOTOR VEHICLE AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SUCH A TRIM PANEL
A trim panel for an external pillar of a motor vehicle, including: a first trim element which is formed by a first translucent or transparent material or a material which permits the diffusion of light which has a given wavelength, the first element having an external surface which is orientated towards the outer side of the vehicle and an internal surface which is orientated towards the inner side of the vehicle; a second trim element which is formed by a second non-translucent and non-transparent material which does not allow the diffusion of light which has a given wavelength, the second element having an external surface in contact with the internal surface of the first element, the second element further having at least one recess which does not have the second material; an insert which is formed by a third translucent or transparent material or by a material which permits the diffusion of light which has a given wavelength, the insert comprising a nesting portion which is arranged so as to completely fill the recess of the second element,
MULTI-PART SURFACE-MOUNTABLE PHYSICAL-ACTIVITY LAMINA AND METHOD OF PRODUCING AND ASSEMBLING SUCH
A method is provided of producing and assembling a multi-part surface-mountable physical-activity lamina for use in aiding or supplementing a physical-activity in a physical-activity environment. There is a step a] of providing a first graphic design model of the lamina; and b] segmenting the first graphic design model into a plurality of graphic design model portions. A step c] follows of arranging the graphic design model portions into a more compact second graphic design defining a reduced surface area; and then d] the second graphic design being applied to a lamina substrate having another surface area. The lamina substrate is then separated into lamina elements corresponding to the graphic design model portions, followed by a step e] of assembling the lamina elements onto a mounting surface at a physical-activity environment to form the surface-mountable physical-activity lamina.
Laser welding member, and molded article
A laser welding member that has a high laser transmittance at a welding region and exhibits an excellent laser welding processability, and a molded article obtained by laser welding using this laser welding member. The laser welding member is obtained by injection molding of a thermoplastic polyester resin material, wherein a region to be laser welded in the member is at a location separated by a distance of at least 15 mm from a gate of an injection molding mold and has at least 30% of a light transmittance of laser light with a wavelength of 940 nm.
Textured hardcoat films
Textured hardcoat films are disclosed for preferable use in film insert moulding. Texture in the hardcoat film is created through the use of a textured protective overlayer, which can impart texture to the curable coating of the hardcoat film. This process preferably avoids the need to alter the composition of the curable coating to allow for texture and preferably produces a hardcoat film with a matte and reduced-glare finish. An apparatus and a method embodying the invention are disclosed.
Earphone
An earbud with a housing comprising a housing outer wall and an electromagnetic radiation-transmissive lens in the housing outer wall. The housing outer wall and the lens are co-molded.
Functional sheet including polyester resin, and lens using functional sheet
The present invention provides a functional sheet including a functional layer provided between protective layers. The functional layer is a polarizing film layer, a photochromic layer, or a combination of the polarizing film layer and the photochromic layer. At least one of the protective layers includes a layer formed of a resin (C) containing a polyester resin (A) obtained as a result of polycondensation of 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol and 1,4-cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid and an aromatic polycarbonate resin (B), the polyester resin (A) being contained at a content of 10 to 100 parts by mass and the aromatic polycarbonate resin (B) being contained at a content of 0 to 90 parts by mass with respect to 100 parts by mass as a total of the polyester resin (A) and the aromatic polycarbonate resin (B). A lens is provided with such a functional sheet.
Monofilament-reinforced hollow fiber membrane with scalloped lumen
A hollow fiber membrane is formed by embedding a braid having a spiral open weave of monofilaments only, to avoid a whiskering problem. The open weave is characterized by contiguous, circumferential, rhomboid-shaped areas of polymer film separated by monofilaments. When the braid is supported on a plasticized PVA cable having a scalloped periphery, the braid can be infiltrated with membrane polymer which, when coagulated, embeds the braid positioning it around the lumen. The embedded spiral weave, free of any circumferentially constricting monofilament, allows the membrane to be biaxially distensible. The membrane has give not only in the axial or longitudinal direction but also in the radial direction. Give in the radial direction permits soiled membranes to be backwashed under higher pressure than in a comparable braid which is not radially distensible.
Decorative sheet, molded-article manufacturing method, and molded article
A decorative sheet decorates a molded-article body in which a fiber-reinforced part, which constitutes a molded article with the molded-article body and contains a matrix resin having fibers and an epoxy group, is exposed to a surface. The decorative sheet includes an adhesive layer containing an amino-group-containing compound, the adhesive layer having an amino group that reacts with the matrix resin when bonding with the fiber-reinforced part. The decorative sheet also includes a decorative layer disposed on the adhesive layer and for decorating the surface of the molded-article body. The decorative sheet also includes a base film that is disposed on the decorative layer and has a polycarbonate-resin layer containing a polycarbonate resin and an inner-side acrylic-resin layer containing an acrylic resin. The inner-side acrylic-resin layer is disposed on the decorative layer, and the polycarbonate-resin layer is disposed on the inner-side acrylic-resin layer.
Earphone
An earbud with a housing comprising a housing outer wall and an electromagnetic radiation-transmissive lens in the housing outer wall. The housing outer wall and the lens are co-molded.
Methods and apparatus for forming polarized films and glasses
Methods are disclosed for forming polarized films and glasses having polarization efficiency that is varied in a predetermined design. In particular, such designs include monochrome and color polarization density gradients, where the non-polarized areas of films and glasses allow viewing of polarized displays without distortion. The methods include forming films and glasses that have visually uniform density while still incorporating polarization gradients. The disclosed methods also enable creation of polarization filters and glasses with increased optical density and reduced glare from multiple angles.
