Methods and apparatuses for making absorbent articles having contoured belts
The present disclosure relates to methods and apparatuses for assembling disposable pant diapers having contoured elastic belts. During the assembly process, opposing end regions of chassis are connected with the elastic belts in the form of first and second continuous elastic laminates. The chassis are then folded to place the elastic laminates into a facing relationship. The inner longitudinal edges of one or both the elastic laminates are then cut to define a contoured shape. Discrete pieces of trim material may be removed from one or both the elastic laminates, and the first and second continuous elastic laminates are cut in the cross direction to form discrete pant diapers. In some configurations, a single knife both removes the trim material and cuts the elastic laminates in cross direction. And in some configurations, a first knife removes the trim material and a second knife cuts the elastic laminates in cross direction.
METHOD AND DEVICE FOR PRODUCING PARTIALLY EMBOSSED BLANKS
A method for producing partially embossed blanks is disclosed. The method is to provide a continuous web of an embossable material, and guide it between two cylinders which emboss its surface. The embossed web is fed to a stamping device to punch blanks from the web. One of the embossing cylinders has a marking which is readable by a first sensor. The first sensor reads the position of the marking and produces a signal which triggers a printing device to produce a print mark on the web identifying the position of the embossing. The print mark is read by a second sensor which produces a signal for controlling and adjusting a feeding distance by which feed rolls supply the web to the stamping device that punches blanks from the web in register with the partial embossing of the blank. A device for conducting the method is also disclosed.
Local connection of sheets onto one another, method and apparatus for the implementation thereof
A local connection of contact surfaces of top and bottom sheets is formed in a defined connection zone. The zone is polygonal and the top and bottom sheets jointly form within the periphery of this zone a connecting lip with their first side faces located opposite one another cut obliquely through their sheet thickness. These first side faces of the sheets and their adjacent obliquely-oriented second side faces in the zone are complementarily beveled in the form of a conical wall running downwards and inwards, so that in the vicinity of these second neighboring side faces the underside of the bottom sheet protrudes inwards past the top surface of the connecting lip at the location of the top outside edges of its first side faces. A method and an apparatus are arranged to implement the local connection.

A printed material includes: a recording medium having a pressure-bonding surface on which an image portion and a pressure phase transition layer are formed, the recording medium being folded upon the recording medium and pressure-bonded; or a recording medium having a pressure-bonding surface on which an image portion and a pressure phase transition layer are formed and an additional recording medium, the recording medium and the additional recording medium being stacked and pressure-bonded together. The average thickness of the pressure phase transition layer formed on the image portion on the pressure-bonding surface of the recording medium is larger than the average thickness of the pressure phase transition layer formed on a non-image portion on the pressure-bonding surface of the recording medium.
Method for manufacturing a covering structure for a tubular package and said package, covering structure and package
The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a covering structure for a cardboard package comprising a tubular body made up a cardboard material. The covering structure comprises a flat assembly of three materials: (1) a cellulosic material covered with a reactivatable barrier material over the face thereof oriented towards a safety membrane, making up a lid cardboard, (2) a laminating part arranged between said lid cardboard and the safety membrane, with a shape conjugated to the shape of the opening of the tubular body, made from paper, or paper whereof the face oriented towards said lid cardboard is coated with a material having barrier and sealing properties, and (3) a safety membrane, made up of a paper coated with at least one reactivatable barrier material on the surface thereof not oriented towards the laminating part.
Apparatus and method for producing microperforated patches and labels applicable to modified atmosphere packaging
An apparatus and method for producing microperforated patches for MAP includes drilling or punching microperforations through continuously advancing label stock. Holes can be drilled by at least one microperforating laser traversed across the label stock as it advances, a laser beam deflected or split using a servo-driven galvanometer, beam splitters, or a plurality of mirrors, or by drills mounted into a rotating die cylinder across which the stock passes as it is advanced. Numbers and sizes of microperforations can be adjusted by manipulation of laser control parameters, or by exchange of die cylinders. The laser can be a CO2 laser with between 10 W and 100 W output. The drills can be carbide drills. The label stock is typically 6-18 inches wide, and can include an adhesive covered by a release sheet. The stock to be microperforated can include separate rows of labels or can be suitable for die-cutting after microperforation.
ULTRASONICALLY JOINED HANG TAB
A system and method for joining a plurality of paper material together with ultrasonic welding to form a hang tab for displaying products, such as, e.g., in a retail environment, without the use of an adhesive, such as, e.g., glue, and/or printing dye or ink. The paper hang tab may replace plastic hooks or tabs, which may be more environmentally beneficial. Two or more pieces of paper may be inserted into a gap between a sonotrode and an anvil of an ultrasonic joining device. A joining force from an actuator may be applied to secure the pieces of paper, and the sonotrode may oscillate a high-frequency. Adequate compaction of the pieces of paper is produced in addition to a high development of heat from friction generated in the micro-region of the thermoplastic coating. Melting of thermoplastic coating then forms a physical connection between the pieces of paper, effectively fusing them together.
Dunnage conversion system and method for expanding pre-slit sheet stock material
A dunnage conversion system (20) for expanding an unexpanded slit sheet stock material (23) to form an expanded dunnage product (26). The dunnage conversion system includes a converging chute (28) to inwardly gather laterally-extending edges of sheet stock material towards one another, causing random crumpling of the sheet stock material to form a modified ply. The conversion system also includes feed wheels (120) that advance the modified ply through the converging chute and pinch rollers (122) that cooperate with the feed wheels to expand the modified ply traveling between the feed wheels and the pinch rollers to form a dunnage product. The expanded dunnage product is expanded both in a longitudinal feed direction and in thickness as compared to the unexpanded slit sheet stock material, and thus is a three-dimensional product having increased volume and lower density per unit of length as compared to the unexpanded slit sheet stock material.
