GLASS ARTICLE HAVING A PLASTIC FRAME WITH ENHANCED RELIABILITY AGAINST DELAMINATION
Embodiments of the disclosure relate to a glass article. The glass article includes a glass sheet having a first major surface and a second major surface. The second major surface is opposite to the first major surface. The glass article also includes a frame made of a plastic material. The plastic material has a coefficient of thermal expansion (a) having units of ppm/° C. The glass article further includes an adhesive bonding the second major surface of the glass sheet to the frame. The adhesive has a shear modulus (G) having units of MPa. The plastic material of the frame and the adhesive are selected such that G≤500,000 α.sup.−3.
ENERGY HARVESTING METHODS FOR PROVIDING AUTONOMOUS ELECTRICAL POWER TO MOBILE DEVICES
A method is provided that integrates an autonomous energy harvesting capacity in a mobile device in an aesthetically neutral manner. A unique set of structural features combine to implement a hidden energy harvesting system on a surface of the mobile device body structure or casing to provide electrical power to the mobile device, and/or to individually electrically-powered components in the mobile device. Color-matched, image-matched and/or texture-matched optical layers are formed over energy harvesting components, including photovoltaic energy collecting components. Optical layers are tuned to scatter selectable wavelengths of electromagnetic energy back in an incident direction while allowing remaining wavelengths of electromagnetic energy to pass through the layers to the energy collecting components below. The layers appear opaque when observed from a light incident side, while allowing at least 50%, and as much as 80+%, of the energy impinging on the energy or incident side to pass through the layer.
Multi-Layered Windowpane and Method for Producing Such Windowpane
The invention relates to a multi-layered windowpane including a first transparent outer layer, a second transparent outer layer, and a third, smaller, transparent inner layer that is located in between the outer layers, an adhesive transparent foil layer located between the first outer layer and the third inner layer and a sealing surrounding the third inner layer. The invention also provides a thin layered windowpane core to be incorporated in such a multi-layered windowpane as well as a method for producing such a multi-layered windowpane.
Systems and methods for fireproofing cables and other structural members
According to some embodiments, a fireproofing system for protecting an elongate member, comprising at least one inner layer configured to at least partially wrap around itself to form an inner passage, the at least one inner layer configured to generally resist heat, and an outer shell or member defining an interior opening, wherein the first layer is configured to be positioned within the interior opening of the outer shell or outer member, wherein an elongate member is configured to pass through the inner passage.
HURRICANE DOOR
An entryway door is capable of withstanding direct hit hurricane loads and subsequent water surge for long periods. A door slab is formed of reaction-injected-molded aliphatic polyurethane having an outward face, and inward face, and a peripheral edge, with a window opening formed therethrough. A ballistic glass-clad polycarbonate laminate window is provided which sized larger than the window opening. The laminate window having a central light transmissive region and an outer boarder region. A primer is applied to the outer boarder region of outward and inward faces of the laminate window. The door slab is reaction-injected-molded about the laminate window with the outer boarder region extending into and is bonded to a portion of the door slab forming the window opening. The preferred door in mounted to a structure in an outwardly opening manor with a seal entrapped between the periphery of the door and a door jam.
A METHOD OF AUTOCLAVE-FREE LAMINATING
A method for laminating an assembled sandwich structure consisting of a functional part (4) and one glass article (5) separated from an outer surface of the functional part by a laminating film (6) by heating with electromagnetic radiation in a vacuum is described. In the method equal temperatures of all sandwich components are provided by selection of the optimal radiation frequencies. The optimal vacuum level is provided following the laminating film temperature.
Biodegradable cellulose fiber-based substrate, its manufacturing process, and use in an adhesive tape
A biodegradable cellulose fiber-based substrate, at least one side of which is coated with a release coating including: a) at least one water-soluble polymer (WSP) containing hydroxyl groups, and b) at least one lactone substituted with at least one linear or branched and/or cyclic C.sub.8-C.sub.30 hydrocarbon chain which may contain heteroatoms.
