Laminate

An object of the present invention is to provide a laminate of an olefin-type rubber, which is non-polar or has a small polarity and which is difficult to bond with a different material, and a rubber comprising Group 15 elements, which is a different kind of rubber. The laminate according to the present invention includes a structure including, in order, an olefin-type rubber layer (A); an adhesive resin layer (B) containing at least one selected from the group consisting of an ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer, a silane-modified ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer, an ethylene/acrylic acid copolymer and an ionomer thereof, and an ethylene/methacrylic acid copolymer and an ionomer thereof; and a layer (C) containing a rubber containing Group 15 elements.

A lapping roller is arranged adjacent to the first embossing assembly to lap at least one intermediate web product that is formed with an intermediate embossed pattern and a first web product that is formed with a first embossed pattern together to form a lapped web product. A glue applying device is arranged adjacent to the first embossing assembly to apply glue on one surface of the lapped web product. A laminating roller laminates the lapped web product and the second web product that is formed with a second embossed pattern together.

A skin patch for the UV protection is contemplated as being formed from a vulcanized silicone substrate, an adhesive gel coating adhered to the internal surface of the silicone substrate, and a release liner removably attached to the adhesive gel coating, wherein following removal of the release liner from the adhesive gel coating, the coating is operative to enable adherence of the skin patch to skin. The skin patch is further contemplated as being operative to at least partially absorb solar ultraviolet radiation via the vulcanized silicone substate or the adhesive coating additionally comprising at least one UV-blocking compound having an absorption peak in the ultraviolet spectrum.

CURATIVE

A curative for epoxidized plant-based oils and epoxidized natural rubber is created from the reaction between a naturally occurring polyfunctional acid and an epoxidized plant-based oil is disclosed. The curative may be used to produce porosity-free castable resins and vulcanize rubber formulations based on epoxidized natural rubber. Materials made from disclosed materials may be advantageously used as leather substitutes.

Plasma treatment of an elastomeric material for adhesion

Elastomeric components, such as a shoe outsole, are treated with a plasma application to clean and activate the elastomeric component. The application of plasma is controlled to achieve a sufficient surface composition change to enhance adhesion characteristics while not adversely physically deforming the elastomeric component. The plasma treatment is applied to increase carbonyl functional group concentrations within an altered region of the elastomeric component to within at least a range of 2%-15% of carbon atomic percentage composition. The cleaning and activation is controlled, in part, by ensuring a defined height offset range is maintained between the elastomeric component and the plasma source by a generated tool path. The elastomeric component may then be adhered, with an adhesive, to another component.

SUPER-VIBRATION DAMPING THERMOPLASTIC ELASTOMER BLENDS AND ARTICLES MADE THEREWITH

A thermoplastic elastomer compound includes hydrogenated styrenic block copolymer having a polyisoprene soft block, styrene-isobutylene-styrene block copolymer, tackifier having a softening point of at least about 80 C. according to ASTM 6493, and, optionally, one or more additional thermoplastic elastomers. The compound has a Compound Tan Delta Peak Temperature (at 10 Hz) of at least 10 C. and a Compound Tan Delta Peak Height (at 10 Hz) of at least 0.85 if no thermoplastic polyurethane is present and at least 0.60 if additional thermoplastic elastomer is present and includes thermoplastic polyurethane. The thermoplastic elastomer compound exhibits superior damping properties across a broad range of temperatures, including at or above room temperature, and across a broad range of vibrational frequencies. The compound in sheet form can be used as a layer in an article of a structure susceptible to forceful impact of any item.

Curative

Film for Packaging

The present disclosure provides a film. In an embodiment, a multilayer film having at least three layers is provided. The multilayer film includes two skin layers, each skin layer composed of a blend of a low density polyethylene and an ethylene-based elastomer having a density less than 0.90 g/cc. The multilayer film also includes a core layer located between the skin layers. The core layer includes a propylene-based plastomer having a density less than 0.90 g/cc. The multilayer film has an onset end temperature from 90 C. to 110 C. and a heat seal strength at 120 C. from 1.5 N/cm to 2.5 N/cm.

An elastomer laminate comprises at least two adjacent layers, the first layer consisting of a composition based on 20 to 100 phr of at least one copolymer comprising ethylene units and units of a formula CH.sub.2?CRCH?CH.sub.2, the ethylene units in the copolymer representing more than 50 mol % of the monomer units, R representing a hydrocarbon chain having 3 to 20 carbon atoms, 0 to 80 phr of at least one diene elastomer having a weight content of diene units of greater than 50%, 10 to 100 phr of a plasticizing system comprising at least one plasticizing resin having a glass transition temperature above 20? C. and/or at least one plasticizer that is liquid at 23? C., a reinforcing filler, and a crosslinking system, and the second layer consisting of a composition based on a diene elastomer having a weight content of diene units of greater than 50% and a crosslinking system.
