Card products of the process may have a core layer of metal, ceramic, or a combination thereof that form a bulk of the card.

Multi-layered composite structures and methods for the preparation thereof

The present invention relates to multi-layered composite structures and to methods for the preparation thereof. The present multi-layered composite structures are light weight and capable of high load bearing making the present multi-layered composite structures especially suitable to be used as load bearing structures in, for example, automotive. Specifically, the present invention relates to methods comprising the steps of a) providing a mould for said multi-layered composite structure; b) layering said mould with two or more layers forming the outer surface of said multi-layered composite; c) filling said layered mould with a mixture comprised of non-expanded heat-expandable microspheres and closing said mould; and d) subjecting said closed mould to a temperature of 80° C. to 140° C. during 1 to 230 minutes thereby providing a relative pressure in said closed mould of 0.1 to 20 bar through expansion of said heat-expandable microspheres thereby forming a multi-layered composite structure in said mould with a foam enforced inner core and a multi-layered outer surface; and e) separating the multi-layered composite structure from said mould.

This disclosure describes a reinforced thermosetting resin piping system that is protected from external impact and UV damage by an outer polyurea-based layer. The embodiments described herein can be favorably used for underground and aboveground applications. In some implementations, an RTR pipe includes a core layer that includes a resin and fibers, an outer layer that includes a polyurea-based layer, and an interface layer between the core layer and the outer layer. The methods described herein also outline the process of producing the pipe structure.

A carbon fiber reinforced plastic composite metal plate for vehicles according to the present invention includes: a predetermined metal plate; and a mixed resin layer including: a plurality of carbon fiber reinforced plastic layers provided on at least a portion of one surface or both surfaces of the metal plate, the carbon fiber reinforced plastic layers containing a predetermined matrix resin and carbon reinforcing fibers present in the matrix resin; and a resin layer located at least between any layers of the carbon fiber reinforced plastic layers or at the interface between the carbon fiber reinforced plastic layer and the metal plate, the resin layer containing a resin having a Young's modulus of less than 1 GPa and a loss coefficient of 0.01 or more, which is different from the matrix resin.

The present invention provides a fiber-reinforced resin which has excellent tensile shear joining strength and is able to be integrated with another structural member with high productivity by means of thermal welding, thereby being suitable as a structural material. The present invention is a fiber-reinforced resin which contains constituents (A), (B) and (C), while having a multilayer structure that is composed of a thermosetting resin layer that is formed of (B) a thermosetting resin, a thermoplastic resin layer that is formed of (C) a thermoplastic resin, and a mixed layer that is present between the thermoplastic resin layer and the thermosetting resin layer, while being obtained by mixing the thermoplastic resin (C) and the thermosetting resin (B), in such a manner that the thermoplastic resin layer is present in the surface.
