PLASTIC PRODUCT WHICH INCLUDES SYNTHETIC POLYMER FILM WHOSE SURFACE HAS MICROBICIDAL ACTIVITY
A plastic product includes a plastic base which has a surface and a synthetic polymer film provided on the surface of the plastic base, the surface of the plastic base being made of polycarbonate. The synthetic polymer film has raised portions whose two-dimensional size is in a range of more than 20 nm and less than 500 nm when viewed in its normal direction. A crosslink structure of the synthetic polymer film contains an ethylene oxide unit and a 2-(2-vinyloxy ethoxy)ethyl (meth)acrylate monomer unit. The proportion of the contained ethylene oxide unit to the entirety of the synthetic polymer film is not less than 35 mass % and less than 70 mass %. The proportion of the contained 2-(2-vinyloxy ethoxy)ethyl (meth)acrylate monomer unit to the entirety of the synthetic polymer film is not less than 15 mass % and less than 45 mass %.
REINFORCED INSULATED STRUCTURAL PANELS
A reinforced structural panel and a method of making said reinforced structural panel is described herein. The reinforced structural panel having an insulating layer, an outer layer adjacent a first lateral surface of the insulating layer, and a plurality of reinforcement structures fixed between the insulating layer and the outer layer. The reinforcement structures may be wood or a cementitious material, such as magnesium oxide. The outer layer of the reinforced structural panel may be any wood board or cementitious board, such as magnesium oxide or gypsum. The plurality of reinforcement structures may run parallel with the length or width of the structural panel. The plurality of reinforcement structures may be attached, at least partially, to the outer layer with an adhesive.
Injection molded composite blank and guide
This specification discloses an article of manufacture. The article of manufacture has at least one structural blank and at least one guide. The structural blank has a plurality of oriented fiber plies in a thermoplastic matrix. The guide has a plurality of random dispersed fibers in a thermoplastic matrix. The guide is affixed to the structural blank by injection molding and over molding the guide onto the structural blank. The article of manufacture can take a number of forms for use in industries such as aircraft, automobiles, motorcycles, bicycles, trains or watercraft.
ECO-FRIENDLY FLOORING AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SAME
Described herein is flooring formed of an eco-friendly material, where the flooring has excellent heat resistance, durability, abrasion resistance and dimensional stability, and is formed of a non-PVC material and thus is recyclable via an extrusion processing at the time of disposal after use. Specifically, eco-friendly flooring is described in which a coating layer, an overlayer having ionomers, a printing layer, at least one middle layer, and at least one underlayer are laminated in order, where the overlayer of the flooring has ionomers, at least one of the middle layer and the underlayer has a thermoplastic polyolefin-based resin, a styrene-based resin, oil, and a filler, the thermoplastic polyolefin-based resin is contained in an amount of 50 to 150 parts by weight with respect to 100 parts by weight of the styrene-based resin, and the styrene-based resin may contain 25 to 45% styrene.
HIGH TEMPERATURE THERMOPLASTIC PRE-IMPREGNATED STRUCTURE FOR AIRCRAFT HEATED FLOOR PANEL
A heated floor panel assembly for aircraft includes structural layers made of a fiber matrix and a high temperature thermoplastic resin. The structural layers are within the heated floor panel assembly to protect the other assembly components from damage and absorb stress. The heated floor panel assembly further includes a heating layer with a heating element, an impact layer, and a core layer to take shear stress exerted on the assembly.
ELECTRIC POTENTIALLY-DRIVEN SHADE WITH IMPROVED ELECTRICAL CONNECTION BETWEEN INTERNAL SHADE AND EXTERNAL POWER SOURCE, AND/OR METHOD OF MAKING THE SAME
Certain example embodiments relate to electric, potentially-driven shades usable with insulating glass (IG) units, IG units including such shades, and/or associated methods. In such a unit, a dynamic shade is located between the substrates defining the IG unit, and is movable between retracted and extended positions. The dynamic shade includes on-glass layers including a transparent conductor and an insulator or dielectric film, as well as a shutter. The shutter includes a resilient polymer, a conductor, and optional ink. Holes, invisible to the naked eye, may be formed in the polymer. Those holes may be sized, shaped, and arranged to promote summertime solar energy reflection and wintertime solar energy transmission. The conductor may be transparent or opaque. When the conductor is reflective, overcoat layers may be provided to help reduce internal reflection. The polymer may be capable of surviving high-temperature environments and may be colored in some instances.
METHOD FOR PRODUCING PRODUCT OF ACETALIZATION OF ETHYLENE/VINYL ALCOHOL COPOLYMER
The present invention relates to a method for producing an acetalization product of an ethylene/vinyl alcohol copolymer by acetalization of an ethylene/vinyl alcohol copolymer, wherein the ethylene/vinyl alcohol copolymer is a porous object.
Injection molded prosthetic component with planarized bone-contacting surfaces
A method for manufacturing a prosthetic component include injection molding a prosthetic component with a polymeric material. The prosthetic component includes a final surface positioned on one side and multiple coring features positioned on an opposite side. The coring features may include multiple ribs and slots. The method further includes machining the prosthetic component to remove the coring features and form a final surface on the opposite side. The prosthetic component may be a femoral component for a prosthetic knee joint.
Functionalized polymer particles for use as toughening agent
Composite materials and structural adhesives containing particles of functionalized polymers as a toughening agent. The particles are composed of functionalized polyaryletherketone (PAEK) polymer or copolymer thereof that contain chemical functional groups capable of reacting with a thermoset resin component to form covalent bonds.
DURABLE GLASS FOR VEHICLE
A multilayer glass stack for a vehicle windshield with improved durability is described. The multilayer glass stack includes an external-facing glass layer, an internal-facing glass layer, and an adhesive interlayer positioned between the external-facing and internal-facing glass layers. The external-facing glass layer may include borosilicate and/or does not include soda lime glass. Methods of manufacturing the multilayer glass stack are also described.
