20170259547 · 2017-09-14 ·

A patch lamination device includes a laminate feed roller, a laminating roller, and a laminate spreader. The laminate feed roller is configured to feed a patch laminate ribbon along a laminate path. The laminating roller is configured to laminate individual patch laminates of the ribbon to a surface of a card substrate. The laminate spreader is positioned between the laminate feed roller and the laminating roller. The laminate spreader is configured to reduce the formation of trough wrinkles in a patch laminate that is tensioned between the laminate feed roller and the laminating roller during lamination of the patch laminate to a card substrate using the laminating roller.

Composite cards formed include a security layer comprising a hologram or diffraction grating formed at, or in, the center, or core layer, of the card. The hologram may be formed by embossing a designated area of the core layer with a diffraction pattern and depositing a thin layer of metal on the embossed layer. Additional layers may be selectively and symmetrically attached to the top and bottom surfaces of the core layer. A laser may be used to remove selected portions of the metal formed on the embossed layer, at selected stages of forming the card, to impart a selected pattern or information to the holographic region. The cards may be ‘lasered’ when the cards being processed are attached to, and part of, a large sheet of material, whereby the “lasering” of all the cards on the sheet can be done at the same time and relatively inexpensively.

METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING GLASS SHEET COMPOSITE

A data protector according to an embodiment of the present disclosure includes: a data layer configured to record confidential information as a visible image; and one or a plurality of cover layers disposed at least one of above or below the data layer and configured to transition between a color-developed state and a decolored state in a visible wavelength region.

Method and apparatus for conditioning a data carrier constructed as a card-like and multilayer laminate for a subsequent application of data

Methods and a device are provided for conditioning, in particular smoothing, a data carrier constructed as a card-like and multi-layer laminate, in particular an RFID or NFC ticket, for a subsequent application of data, in particular by printing thereon. A simultaneous heating of the data carrier and application of pressure to a first main surface of the card-like data carrier takes place while the second main surface opposite the first main surface is in contact with an at least substantially flat support surface, to cause a reduction or elimination of a curvature of the data carrier which may have existed previously.

White laminated film and recording material

In order to provide an extremely cost-advantageous laminated white film for use as a recording material that is an information printing medium in place of paper such as copy paper, proposed is a laminated white film having a functional layer comprising an antistatic agent on at least one surface of a polyester film having an apparent density of 0.7 to 1.3 g/cm.sup.3 and a thickness of 10 to 1000 μm, wherein the polyester film comprises a polyester-incompatible polymer.

When forming layer stacks in the presence of solder material, uncontrolled flow of the solder material at the interface of two different layers of the layer stack may significantly be mitigated by providing an area of increased pressure in the material of the overlaying foil layer. For example, the area of increased pressure may be generated during the lamination process by providing a pressure inducing structure, for instance on the underlying foil layer, which laterally surrounds the solder material and therefore, in combination with the material of the overlying foil layer, reliably confines the solder material.

Systems and methods for self-obscuring tamper-evident labels

Systems and methods for using, configuring, and manufacturing self-obscuring tamper-evident labels can include producing labels that have adhesive and non-adhesive sides. The non-adhesive side can be configured to receive printing such as machine-readable codes. The labels typically have multiple layers which can be configured for various tasks. For example, one layer can be configured as an irreversible void material that generates indicia upon receiving a certain tension associated with removal from a surface. Another layer may be configured to ease the removal of the label from a surface while another generates deformations under tension. The indicia, deformations, and machine-readable code printed on the non-adhesive side can be configured such that when activated, the indicia render the machine-readable code unreadable via machine. These labels can be utilized as security labels designed to indicate prior removal as well as other applications that can benefit from quick removal and prior removal indication.
