Multilayer polymer film
In a first aspect, a multilayer polymer film includes a first transparent, colorless polymer layer comprising a polyimide, a polyamide imide, or a block copolymer of a polyimide and a second transparent, colorless polymer layer comprising a polyimide, a polyamide imide, or a block copolymer of a polyimide. An elastic modulus of the first transparent, colorless polymer layer is different than an elastic modulus of the second transparent, colorless polymer layer. The first and second transparent, colorless polymer layers are bonded by consolidation. In a second aspect, a cover window for a display includes the multilayer polymer film of the first aspect. The first transparent, colorless layer of the multilayer polymer film is the layer farthest from the display.
COMPOSITE PANEL HAVING NONCOMBUSTIBLE POLYMER MATRIX CORE
A composite panel structure of a polymer matrix core sandwiched by metal layers is described. The polymer matrix comprises 1-30 wt % fluoropolymer and 70-99 wt % of a flame retardant mineral. The fluoropolymer may be polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) with a high limiting oxygen index, which confers fire resistance properties to the polymer matrix and the composite panel structure. The composite panel structure may be used on the exterior of buildings and may fulfill building code requirements for the polymer matrix core being noncombustible as determined by ASTM E136 and CAN/ULC S114 compliance.
MULTILAYER COMPOSITE RUBBER-PLASTIC FOAM INSULATION MATERIAL AND PREPARATION METHOD THEREOF
The present invention discloses a multilayer composite rubber-plastic foam insulation material and a preparation method thereof. The composite rubber-plastic foam insulation material includes a two-layer structure; the two-layer structure includes an insulation layer and a first functional layer; the insulation layer and the first functional layer are both made of a rubber-plastic foam material; the first functional layer and the insulation layer are integrally molded by blending extrusion and vulcanization foaming, and the first functional layer and the insulation layer form an integral structure. The multilayer composite rubber-plastic foam insulation material provided by the present invention adopts a vulcanization foaming integral molding process, and not only ensures the thermal insulation property of the insulation layer, but also gives the functional layer corresponding functions by selecting different functional polymers, thereby satisfying a variety of personalized needs in engineering applications.
Laminated glass article with aperture formed therein and methods for forming the same
A glass article (100) includes a core layer (102) formed from a core glass composition with a core coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) and first (104) and second (106) cladding layers fused to first and second major surfaces of the core layer (102) and formed from a clad glass composition comprising a clad CTE. An aperture (120) extends through each of the core layer (102), the first cladding layer (104), and the second cladding layer (106). The clad CTE is less than the core CTE such that each of the first (104) and second (106) cladding layers is under a compressive stress and the core layer (102) is under a tensile stress. A flexural strength of the glass article (100) can be at least about 75 MPa. A peak load sustainable by the glass article (100) in a modified ring-on-ring test can be at most 96.5% less than a peak load sustainable by a reference glass article in the modified ring-on-ring test.
THIN GLASS SHEET AND SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR FORMING THE SAME
A method includes heating a glass preform having a plurality of glass layers and drawing the glass preform in a distal direction to form a drawn glass sheet extending distally from the glass preform and having the plurality of glass layers. The drawn glass sheet is thinner than the glass preform. The drawn glass sheet can be rolled onto a collection spool. At least a portion of a glass layer can be removed from the drawn glass sheet. An exemplary glass sheet includes a first glass layer, a second glass layer adjacent to the first glass layer, and a thickness of at most about 0.1 mm. An exemplary ion exchanged glass sheet includes a thickness of at most about 0.1 mm and a surface layer that is under a compressive stress and extends into an interior of the glass sheet to a depth of layer.
FIBER STRUCTURE AND APPLICATION THEREOF
Provided is a fiber structure in which an extra-fine fiber layer and a substrate layer are integrated deeply. The fiber structure includes an extra-fine fiber layer 10 spreading in a plane direction, and a substrate layer 20 adjoining the extra-fine fiber layer, wherein the extra-fine fiber layer 10 includes extra-fine fibers having a number average single fiber diameter of 5 μm or less; the substrate layer 20 includes non-extra-fine fibers having a number average single fiber diameter of 7 μm or more; and in a cross section along a thickness direction of the fiber structure, the substrate layer 20 contains mixture portions 12 in each of which some of the extra-fine fibers pushed between the non-extra-fine fibers are widened in a crosswise direction.
NON-BLOOMING THERMOPLASTIC POLYURETHANE COMPOUNDS AND THERMOPLASTIC ARTICLES MOLDED THEREFROM
Thermoplastic elastomer compounds include (a) at least about 40 weight percent of thermoplastic polyurethane selected from polycaprolactone-type thermoplastic polyurethane, polyether-type thermoplastic polyurethane, and combinations thereof, and (b) at most about 5 weight percent of polysiloxane. The thermoplastic elastomer compounds can be molded into thermoplastic articles which exhibit substantially no blooming after weathering, while also exhibiting good processability, useful functionality, and desirable aesthetics. The thermoplastic compounds can be especially useful for making overmolded thermoplastic articles.
Laminate, molded article in which laminate is used, and method for manufacturing same
