Microbial consortia

Disclosed herein are microbial consortia and compositions including microbes, for example, for use in agricultural or biodegradation applications. In some embodiments, soil, plants, and/or plant parts (such as seeds, seedlings, shoots, roots, leaves, fruit, stems, or branches) are contacted with a disclosed microbial consortia or composition including microbes. The microbial consortia or microbe-containing compositions may be applied to soil, plant, and/or plant parts alone or in combination with additional components (such as chitin, chitosan, glucosamine, amino acids, and/or liquid fertilizer). In additional embodiments, the disclosed microbial consortia or compositions including microbes are used in methods of degrading biological materials, such as chitin-containing biological materials.

Systems and methods for managing post-harvest crop quality and pests. A post-harvest monitoring system receives sensor device measurements from sensors deployed within a commodity storage facility. The system analyzes the sensor measurements and, optionally, other data, and provides a user with a representation of the storage facility that includes air flow, temperature, and/or moisture content readouts, along with stored commodity quality and/or stored commodity business metrics predictions concerning infestation level, visible mold, dry matter loss, germination capacity, gas concentration, and estimates of commodity value and profit margin under a variety of post-harvest monitoring system-recommended or user-specified scenarios. Use of the system thus enhances stored commodity quality, marketability and food safety by providing solutions that combat spoilage manifestations and guide end users to efficient pest management.

MICROALGAE ENHANCED BIOLOGICAL CROP NUTRITION GRANULES

A combined microalgae and mycorrhizal fungi granular formulation includes a microalgae inoculant combined with a mycorrhizal fungi inoculant with demineralized water to maintain moisture and applied to carrier granules such as a natural clay-based or mineral-based material. The coated granules are dried and may be applied to agricultural areas in dried granular form.

Methods for decreasing the incidence of necrotizing enterocolitis in infants, toddlers, or children using human milk oligosaccharides

Disclosed are methods of reducing the incidence of necrotizing enterocolitis in an infant, toddler, or child using nutritional compositions including human milk oligosaccharides. The nutritional compositions including the human milk oligosaccharides are effective in reducing inflammation and the incidence of inflammatory diseases.

MATRICES COMPRISING A MODIFIED POLYSACCHARIDE

The present invention discloses a matrix comprising a modified polysaccharide consisting of repeating disaccharide units whereby in at least 11% of the disaccharide units one primary alcohol group is oxidized into a carboxylic acid group.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR TESTING BIOCIDE

A biocide testing system includes test columns, a bypass tube, control valves, and a control system. Each test column includes biocide test coupons. The bypass tube is fluidly coupled to each of the test columns. Each control valve is coupled between a respective test column and the bypass tube. The control system performs operations including: controlling the control valves to fluidly couple the test columns to a water source; controlling a pump to circulate water from the water source into the test columns to immerse each test coupon in water; controlling the control valves to fluidly isolate the test columns from the water source and to fluidly isolate each test column from the other test columns; controlling a particular control valve to fluidly couple a particular test column to a biocide source; and controlling the pump to circulate biocide from the biocide source into the particular test column to immerse the test coupons in the particular test column in biocide.
