PRINTING COMPONENTS TO ADHESIVE SUBSTRATE POSTS

A method of printing comprises providing a component source wafer comprising components, a transfer device, and a patterned substrate. The patterned substrate comprises substrate posts that extend from a surface of the patterned substrate. Components are picked up from the component source wafer by adhering the components to the transfer device. One or more of the picked-up components are printed to the patterned substrate by disposing each of the one or more picked-up components onto one of the substrate posts, thereby providing one or more printed components in a printed structure.

Method and apparatus for applying a material onto articles using a transfer component

Apparatuses and methods for applying a transfer material onto one or more surfaces of an article are disclosed, including apparatuses and methods of transfer printing on and/or decorating three-dimensional articles, as well as the articles printed and/or decorated thereby. The apparatuses and methods may include providing a deposition device, such as a printing device; providing a transfer component; depositing a material onto a portion of the transfer component with the deposition device; modifying the portion of the transfer component with the transfer material thereon to conform the transfer component to at least a portion of one or more surfaces of the three-dimensional article; and transferring the transfer material onto the one or more surfaces of the article.

Layer transfer device

Disclosed is a layer transfer device for transferring a transfer layer onto a toner image formed on a sheet, in which a replacement of a film cartridge is easy for a user. The layer transfer device includes a housing, a film cartridge, and a holder. The film cartridge includes a supply reel including a supply shaft on which a multilayer film including a supported layer including a transfer layer, and a supporting layer supporting the supported layer is wound, and a take-up reel including a take-up shaft on which to take up the multilayer film. The holder supports the film cartridge, and is installable into and removable from the housing while supporting the film cartridge.

CONTINUOUS FEED DYE SUBLIMATION APPARATUS FOR FACILITATING CONTINUOUS SUBLIMATION CYCLES

An illustrative dye sublimation apparatus (also referred to as a dye sublimation machine) may have a pair of conveyor belts to perform continuous sublimation cycles using a continuous feed of printed sheet and substrate. For example, the continuous feed dye sublimation apparatus may receive substrate directly from an extrusion machine, which saves time and effort over traditional methods that require separate preparing and loading steps. The pair of conveyor belts may then apply pressure and heat to the printed sheet and substrate in order to facilitate dye sublimation.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF PYROMETRIC TEMPERATURE MEASUREMENT AND CONTROL IN DYE SUBLIMATION

An illustrative heating section of a dye sublimation machine may utilize a plurality of configurable pyrometers. The pyrometers may take the corresponding temperature measurements remotely without interacting with any mechanical moving parts of the dye sublimation machine and therefore may be more robust against breakage. The pyrometers may be directed at the membrane covering the printed sheet and therefore may provide more accurate temperature measurements. Furthermore, the angular orientation of the pyrometers may be configured that may allow the pyrometers to dynamically measure the temperature of multiple spots in the heating section. In addition to the pyrometers in the heating section, a plurality of pyrometers may be provided to measure the temperature in the cooling section of the dye sublimation machine.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR AN IN-LINE TEXTURE APPARATUS

An illustrative dye sublimation apparatus may include a texture sheet with a pattern to be applied to a substrate. More specifically, the texture sheet is pressed into the substrate during the dye sublimation process in order to apply the pattern from the texture sheet while the substrate is heated and simultaneously being infused with an image from a printed sheet. The pressure applied to the texture sheet can vary, for example based on the temperature. Compared to the conventional systems in which substrates are pre-textured, the embodiments disclosed herein describe a process for simultaneous image-infusion and texture-application, which results in a substrate that is both infused and textured.
