The substrate treating apparatus provided includes a stage extending in a first direction, for moving a substrate in the first direction, and having an air floating system, a gantry arranged on the stage to extend in a second direction crossing the first direction, a head module installed on the gantry and movable in the second direction, and a displacement sensor installed in the head module, for measuring a separation distance between the substrate and stage, wherein at a first position, the head module ejects ink to the substrate and the displacement sensor measures a first separation distance between the substrate and the stage, and at a second position that is different from the first position, the head module ejects ink to the substrate and the displacement sensor measures a second separation distance between the substrate and the stage.

An image forming apparatus includes: a main casing to which a consumable is attached; a controller; and a main memory. The consumable includes a consumable memory in which lifetime information relating to a service life of the consumable is stored. The controller is configured to perform: a reception process to receive an instruction to initialize the lifetime information; an initialization process to initialize the lifetime information stored in the consumable memory in accordance with the received instruction; and a write process to write initialization information into the consumable memory, the initialization information indicating that the lifetime information was initialized.

A recording device performs an initial introduction process of executing initial introduction to enable a recording operation by a recording unit in an initial state where a recording operation by a recording unit is not enabled, a completion determining process of determining whether the initial introduction is normally completed, and a shifting process of shifting a state of the recording device from the initial state to a state where the recording operation by the recording unit is enabled within a permitted recording number of the recording operation by the recording unit in response to determining that the initial introduction is normally completed in the completion determining process.

Provided is a sensor control apparatus including a main board, a first sensor, a second sensor, and a third sensor, which are connected in series to the main board. The first sensor includes a diagnosis unit configured to perform a failure diagnosis of each of an LED, a phototransistor, and an LED controller. In a case where a failure is detected, the diagnosis unit electrically isolates the first sensor from the series connection, and supplies a power supply voltage to the second sensor.

An image forming apparatus includes a printing unit that executes a printing operation to print an image on a recording sheet, a HDD in which first authentication information for identifying a user is stored in advance, an operation device for receiving information inputted, and a control device. In a print device, the conveyance member conveys a tape on which printing is performed. The tape has a base material and a release material bonded together. The tape includes a print portion on which an image is printed by the head. The printed tape is used to create a printed matter. The half cutter performs a half cut to cut through the release material without cutting through the base material. The full cutter performs a full cut to cut through the tape conveyed by the conveyance member. The controller controls the half cut so that the half cutter cuts through the release material at a position downstream side of a most downstream end of the print portion of the printed tape, which is conveyed by the conveyance member and is printed by the head, in a conveying direction of the tape.

An apparatus is disclosed. The apparatus is to detect an artefact on a printable surface. The apparatus comprises a detection element to engage the printable surface as the printable surface moves relative to the detection element, and to move away from the printable surface when an artefact passes between the detection element and the printable surface. The apparatus also comprises an actuator to be actuated in response to the detection element moving beyond a defined distance from the printable surface. A method and a print apparatus are also disclosed.
