REPELLANT FORMULATION AND METHOD

A formulation for repelling insects and arthropods comprises about 0.5% by weight to about 4.0% by weight of an active ingredient and an emulsifier. The active ingredient includes a mixture of one or more natural essential oils. A method for making the repellant formulation comprises forming an oil-in-water emulsion by mixing one or more of the natural essential oils into an aqueous solution including an emulsifier, homogenizing the oil-in-water emulsion, and adding a buffer to the emulsion for maintaining a pH of the emulsion at above about 7.5. The repellant formulation is used by applying an effective amount of the repellant formulation onto the skin or fur of a mammal, clothing or other surface.

INSECT REPELLENT

An insect repellent is suitable for an anti-tick treatment to living materials such as bedding and carpets with long-term replacement cycles in years and that also has a tick repellent effect stably lasting over a long period of time. The insect repellent contains 2,4-DHAP or xanthoxyline as an active ingredient. 2,4-DHAP and xanthoxyline can stably maintain repellency rates of at least 30-40% and about 90% respectively even if a heating treatment at 150° C. is continued for 5 minutes or longer, that is, for about 3 years in an environment of 25° C.

A composition for a sterilizing solution and a method of use thereof intent to provide the user a sterile lubricant for a chainsaw/bandsaw machine, such that they inhibit the spread of tree infections from one tree to another during the process of cutting multiple trees. Preferably, the sterilizing solution includes essential oils that contain terpenes, carvacrol, eugenol, thymol, and other anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, and anti-viral elements. Further, the method of application provides the user the ability to continuously cut one tree after another without the potential danger of spreading an infection from one tree to another tree. Additionally, the method enables users to apply the sterilizing solution over cutting blades as well as over cut tree stumps, thereby sterilizing the surfaces, repelling bugs and preventing infections that are associated with the tree cutting process. Furthermore, the sterilizing solution is a plant-based biodegradable sterilizer that does not harm the environment when used.
