A sheet processing apparatus includes a sheet tray on which one or more sheets to be processed are placed, an adhesive applying unit, and a pressing member. Provided is a binding apparatus enabling easy removal of a sheet bundle, which has been subjected to binding, from clamping teeth. The binding apparatus includes: a sheet placement portion on which sheets are placed; an alignment unit configured to align the sheets placed on the sheet placement portion; a binding member configured to bind the sheets placed on the sheet placement portion by deforming the sheets without using a staple; and a separating member configured to apply a rotational force to the sheets which are bound by the binding member to separate the sheets and the binding member from each other, the alignment unit and the separating member being constructed by different members.

A sheet processing apparatus includes a binding unit configured to perform binding processing by pressing a sheet bundle, a motor configured to drive the binding unit to press the sheet bundle, and a motor control unit configured to set a driving current of the motor and an upper limit value of the driving current, the motor control unit being configured to set the driving current when starting activating the motor in a state where the binding unit is not pressing the sheet bundle to a first value, and set the upper limit value of the driving current in a period in which the binding unit is pressing the sheet bundle to a second value less than or equal to the first value.

[Problem] With a simple configuration, bookbinding can be performed such that a document sheet can be identified for each chapter by an index sheet, and a predetermined sheet can be easily turned over and opened.

[Solution] A post-processing apparatus adapted to cause a document sheet S1 having a document formed thereon and an index sheet S2 having a chapter title formed thereon to overlap each other, and to perform bookbinding such that the document sheet S1 is identifiable for each chapter by the index sheet S2, the post-processing apparatus including: an image formation unit configured to form, based on a title setting function provided in document generation software, the chapter title on the index sheet S2 according to chapter title information attached to the document; a processing formation unit 30 configured to form a cut-out or cuttable portion-to-be-processed K on the document sheet S1; and a bookbinding unit 40 configured to cause the document sheet S1 having the portion-to-be-processed K formed thereon and the index sheet S2 having the chapter title formed thereon to overlap each other such that the document sheet S1 is positioned on the index sheet S2, and to perform the bookbinding by causing the portion-to-be-processed K of the document sheet S1 and the chapter title of the index sheet S2 to coincide with each other.

A booklet forming device includes a sheet support portion, and a bonding unit including a pressurizing member and configured to form a bonding layer. In a case of forming a first booklet including a first number of sheets, the bonding unit is operated under a first operation condition so that a thickness of the bonding layer positioned closest to the pressurizing member in the first booklet becomes a first thickness. In a case of forming a second booklet including a second number of sheets more than the first number of sheets, the bonding unit is operated under a second operation condition different from the first operation condition so that the thickness of the bonding layer positioned closest to the pressurizing member in the second booklet becomes a second thickness larger than the first thickness.
