A label construction including a substrate has a first and second opposite side. The substrate includes a layer of microporous film and a layer of elastomeric film. The layer of microporous film and the layer of elastomeric film are laminated together. The invention relates to an insert for a passport booklet data sheet, formed by a multilayer complex having at least a first layer and a second layer having a hinge that has a folding zone where the insert is intended to be sewn or stapled into a passport booklet, said second layer having, in combination, at least one layer of plastics material and at least one metal reinforcing layer that together form an extension which extends a certain distance beyond said folding zone of the hinge, so as to reinforce the resistance of said data sheet to being ripped out and torn with respect to the passport booklet, characterized in that said layer of plastics material and said metal reinforcing layer extend over the entire surface area of the insert.

The present magnetically bound media with reattachable pages exemplarily comprise a magnetic binding, one or more reattachable pages, and one or more conductive metals attached to the pages and magnetically attracted to the magnetic binding. Thus, a user of the magnetically bound media may disengage one or more of the pages from the magnetic binding and reintegrate those pages into the magnetic binding in any order. This allows for customization of information presentation, sequence, and selection. The small size of the magnetic binding also affords a smaller minimum apparatus size and a quicker means with which to remove, rearrange, and reintegrate pages. Furthermore, the magnetic binding permits pages to be secured in a more professionally presentable manner without punched holes. In an exemplary embodiment, the magnetic binding is a cylindrical or a prismatic, rectangular neodymium or samarium alloy secured within the bound media by a magnet cover or clasp.

A security document (e.g. passport) comprising a protective feature for authenticating a laminate data sheet thereof and method for making the same. A metalized flexible hinge attached to the laminate data sheet is used to bind the laminate data sheet into the passport with one or more other sheets at a binding of the passport such that at least a portion of the metalized surface of the flexible hinge is visible proximate to the laminate data sheet. Personalization data is etched on the visible portion of the metalized surface of the flexible hinge and matches personalization data of the laminate data sheet.

A security document (e.g. passport) comprising a protective feature for authenticating a laminate data sheet thereof and method for making the same. A metalized flexible hinge attached to the laminate data sheet is used to bind the laminate data sheet into the passport with one or more other sheets at a binding of the passport such that at least a portion of the metalized surface of the flexible hinge is visible proximate to the laminate data sheet. A method for producing a book-like security and/or value document includes: A) at least two layers of a data sheet formed from organic polymeric materials are brought together, one inner layer having smaller dimensions than at least one adjacent layer, the data sheet forming a gap or a step along an edge, the gap/step being filled with an auxiliary piece having a thickness which substantially corresponds to the thickness of the inner layer and formed from a material which is not laminable with the at least two layers, B) all layers of the stack of step A) are laminated with each other, not with the auxiliary piece, C) auxiliary piece is removed, D) a data sheet region of a cover tab is introduced into the gap/step and connected with the data sheet, E) a cover region of the cover tab is bound into the cover of the security and/or value document.

A method for producing a book-like security and/or value document includes: A) at least two layers of a data sheet formed from organic polymeric materials are brought together, one inner layer having smaller dimensions than at least one adjacent layer, the data sheet forming a gap or a step along an edge, the gap/step being filled with an auxiliary piece having a thickness which substantially corresponds to the thickness of the inner layer and formed from a material which is not laminable with the at least two layers, B) all layers of the stack of step A) are laminated with each other, not with the auxiliary piece, C) auxiliary piece is removed, D) a data sheet region of a cover tab is introduced into the gap/step and connected with the data sheet, E) a cover region of the cover tab is bound into the cover of the security and/or value document.
