The retractable unwinding tool can be automatically retractable. One or more removable individual writing instruments can be reversibly attached to the writing instrument holder. Yet another multi-purpose combination writing instrument is provided, comprising a writing instrument holder comprising zero, one, or two casing members comprising a hinge assembly, which comprises a hinge.

A flexible marker includes a flexible body for gripping, and a marking implement carried at least partially within the body. The body is flexible to conform to the grip preferences of a user. The body has two parallel lateral sides and a first longitudinal end defining a central apex from which the marking implement can be extended. The body can be folded along or near a central longitudinal axis to bring together two lateral sides. The body can be folded along a first laterally extending axis in a first configuration in which the marking implement extends longitudinally beyond a second longitudinal end for use of the marking implement. The body can be folded along a second laterally extending axis in a second configuration in which the second longitudinal end extends longitudinally beyond the marking implement.

A writing instrument with a decorative element is provided including a housing having a first portion and a second portion, wherein at least one of the first and second housing portions has a recess positioned at a terminal edge thereof, and an decorative insert having a body and at least one decorative portion positioned on the body, the decorative portion having a shape that substantially corresponds to the shape of the recess such that only the decorative portion is visible when the first and second housing portions are connected together.

An improved hand held pen holding sleeve comprising a rigid barrel with a through bore abutting a deformable finger grip element also with a through bore. The pen holding sleeve is devoid of an ink reservoir or ink cartridge. The through bore of the pen holding sleeve is sized and configured to accept disposable stick pens and common pencils as the refill element. The deformable finger grip element is removable from the rigid barrel. The deformable finger grip element, formed of an elastomer, is the sole means for capturing and retaining the refill element within the pen holding sleeve.

An illuminable writing implement includes a housing having a transparent or translucent wall, an insert member disposed within the housing and visible through the housing wall, a writing tip supported by the housing, and a light source disposed in the housing and configured to illuminate the insert member when the light source is supplied with power.

An apparatus includes a pen. The pen includes a reservoir configured to store a fluid. The pen also includes a tip configured to transfer the fluid from the reservoir onto a surface of an object during writing. The pen further includes a regulator configured to control a flow of the fluid from the reservoir to the tip. The apparatus also includes the fluid stored within the reservoir. A writing utensil puzzle kit for amusement and advertising purposes. The writing utensil puzzle kit includes a shaft, a writing member affixed to the shaft, a front housing piece securable to the writing member, a rear housing piece having a front end and rear end, wherein the rear end is securable to an end cap. A plurality of central housing pieces having a central channel that can receive the shaft, wherein each of the central housing pieces are securable to one another in a particular order via a threaded protrusion disposed on a front end thereof that can removably secure to a recessed channel disposed on a back end of an adjacent central housing piece. A gripping member is mountable to the housing piece. In an additional embodiment, the gripping member includes a plurality of interlocking gripping members with indicia thereon for indicating the particular order of connection thereof.

A writing instrument that includes and elongate stylus and at least one stabilizer element. The elongate stylus has a distal inscription tip, a body, and a proximal end. The body is interposed between the distal inscription tip and the proximal end. The at least one stabilizer element extends from the elongate stylus in a direction non-parallel to a longitudinal axis of the elongate stylus. The at least one stabilizer element engages a hand of a user in response to the user grasping the elongate stylus.

A knock type writing tool is provided, in which an appropriate amount of air can be taken in depending on an amount of a thermochromic ink discharged from a pen tip, so that the thermochromic ink can be smoothly discharged from the pen tip, and in which a writing body can rotate surely in conjunction with a rotation of a rotating member. An axial length of each projection piece 63b is longer than an axial length of each protrusion part 72, so that a portion of the gap 63c is left more forward than a front end of each protrusion part 72.
