A tape dispenser includes a plastic injection molded frame with a resiliently flexible finger that helps prevent the free end of a roll of tape from accidentally retracting, falling back, and frustratingly sticking to the coiled portion of the tape. To avoid this problem, a distal end of the finger presses against the inner diameter of a cardboard or plastic spool about which the tape is wrapped. Friction between the finger's distal end and the spool's inner diameter inhibits reverse rotation of the spool. To avoid breaking the finger while forcefully loading the roll of tape into the dispenser during assembly, a lateral backstop surface on the dispenser prevents the spool from bending the finger too far in a laterally outward direction. To avoid breaking the finger during subsequent rough use, another backstop surface prevents the spool from bending the finger too far in a radially downward direction.

A manually operated taping device has a drawback mechanism to draw back the landing end of the tape immediately after the tape is cut and tape tension removed by extending a tape path between the tape source from which the tape is dispensed and an applicator for applying the tape and/or by minimizing the spacing between the applicator and the cutting knife used to cut the tape at the time the tape is cut. The device may also include a guide to better ensure the device is moved during tape application in the direction relative movement between the tape and device.

A hand-held handle dispenser comprising: a main frame (12) having a handle (14), an adhesive tape roll (16) provided at a rear side of the main frame for delivering an adhesive tape, an application roller (18) provided at the front side of the main frame for applying the adhesive tape on a parcel and a cutting blade (20) for cutting the adhesive tape, a cartridge (22) for storing at least one insert strip (24) and transport and affixing means (26, 28) for conveying said at least one insert strip from the cartridge to the application roller and affixing it against the adhesive tape to form a handle.

A tape applicator having an edge folding structure includes a main body and an edge folding block. The edge folding block is provided with a transverse press board, a longitudinal reverse folding block, a longitudinal reverse folding reinforcement block, and a longitudinal flattening board. A distance is defined between the flattening board and the reverse folding reinforcement block. An outer side of the reverse folding block is pivotally connected with a folding post. The tape applicator has a simple structure and can be assembled easily with the folding post to be pivoted to the outer side of the reverse folding block. The tape applicator enables the tape to form a nonstick side edge exactly for the user to tear off the tape from a packing.
