The present disclosure describes a system and method for shaping and energizing fluids that can generate luminous fluid sculptures. The method comprises sculpting the pattern and/or shape of a plurality of fluids using nonvisible forces such as mechanically generated turbulence, controlled movement through a shaped chamber, magnetic fields, vibration, gravity, or other forces; energizing the sculpted fluids so that they emit visible light using sources of nonvisible energy such as chemicals, heat, electrical currents, electromagnetic radiation, or other sources; and controlling the color of the emitted light using chemical additives, selected wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation, layering of selected chemicals, or other methods.

Encrypted optical markers for security applications

Encrypted markers that are not readily detectable can be revealed by treatment with a specific reagent used as a developer to reveal a readily detectable physical property of the marker, such as a characteristic fluorescence emission after excitation with a particular excitation wavelength, or to reveal a visible color. The encrypted marker can be developed in situ, or a sample can be removed by brushing, scraping, swabbing or scratching the marked object or item and developing the encrypted marker or a sample thereof with the appropriate developer to reveal an overt marker or optical signal. The marker can be revealed by exposure of the encrypted marker or a sample thereof to the developer in any suitable form, such as a solution, a slurry, a swab, a solid (such as in granular form), or a gas or a vapor that includes a developer.

ILLUMINATING DREAMCATCHER NOVELTY APPARATUS
20180187881 · 2018-07-05 ·

An illuminating dreamcatcher apparatus which provides a soothing visualization even when viewed in the dark includes a hoop member formed from a rigid circular shaped structural ring, a netting formed from an illuminating wire disposed in the open center of the hoop member and a plurality of decorative items hanging from the hoop member. The hoop member includes at least one hoop lighting element positioned around its circumferential edge as well as an electrical control unit that is wired to the hoop lighting elements and netting so as to allow the selective provision of electricity to the hoop lighting elements and netting. Each of the plurality of hanging decorative items defines a beaded strand with a fiber optic core so as to allow illumination from the hoop lighting element to be emitted from the bottom of the plurality of hanging decorative items.

Transparent glass article that is locally colored in its bulk, an an associated method

An industrial decoration method in which a colored pattern (11) is made in the bulk of an article (1) made of transparent glass of composition including at least one metallic oxide of silver, of gold, or of copper, said method including the following successive steps: a step of laser irradiating the zone of said glass article that is to be colored; and a final step of annealing the irradiated glass; and being characterized in that a glass composition is used that includes cerium and that has a total content of antimony plus tin that is less than 100 ppm, and in that the step of laser irradiating the zone that is to be colored is performed with laser irradiation having a pulse duration that is less than or equal to 10.sup.11 s, while delivering power to the glass at greater than 10.sup.12 W/cm.sup.2, and more preferably lying in the range 10.sup.12 W/cm.sup.2 to 510.sup.14 W/cm.sup.2 for decorating and marking glass articles.

Decorative sheet and decorative resin molded article obtained using same

A decorative sheet which comprises, on a base film layer, a second picture layer that is partially provided and a surface protective layer that is present on and in contact with the second picture layer and covers the entire surface of the base film layer including the region where the second picture layer is formed and the region where the second picture layer is not formed. The decorative sheet is characterized in that: a binder resin for a second picture ink that constitutes the second picture layer is a thermoplastic resin; the surface protective layer is formed of a crosslinking-cured product of an ionizing radiation curable resin composition that contains a polycarbonate (meth)acrylate and/or an acrylic silicone (meth)acrylate; and a low gloss pattern layer that has a low luster region is formed in the surface protective layer right above the second picture layer by the interaction between the ionizing radiation curable resin and the thermoplastic resin. A decorative resin molded article which is obtained using the decorative sheet.
