DEVICE WITH A HIGH-TEMPERATURE INDICATOR FOR A WHEEL-END SYSTEM
20230221187 · 2023-07-13 ·

A device for a wheel-end system includes a component that defines a rotation axis and forms (i) a pocket extending axially downward from a top face of the component and (ii) a shaft extending axially downward from the top face and laterally adjacent to the pocket. The shaft is partially open to the pocket. A spring-loaded indicator is located in the shaft. The threaded fastener also includes a bimetallic strip located partially in the pocket and extending laterally into the shaft. The bimetallic strip has a movable end that axially restrains the spring-loaded indicator while a temperature of the nut is below a threshold temperature. The bimetallic strip, in response to the temperature exceeding the threshold temperature, laterally deflects the movable end to release the spring-loaded indicator. The component may be an axle nut, wheel hub, spacer, or hub cap.

Rod-end front suspension

A rod-end front suspension is provided for an off-road vehicle. The rod-end front suspension comprises a spindle assembly that is pivotally coupled with an upper suspension arm by way of a first rod-end joint and pivotally coupled with a lower suspension arm by way of a second rod-end joint. A steering rod-end joint coupled with the spindle assembly pivotally receives a steering rod. An axle assembly coupled with the spindle assembly conducts torque from a transaxle to a wheel coupled with the spindle assembly. Each of the first and second rod-end joints comprises a ball rotatably retained within a casing. The ball is fastened within a recess between parallel prongs extending from the spindle assembly. A threaded shank extending from the casing is threadably fixated with the suspension arm, such that the spindle assembly may be moved with respect to the casing and the suspension arm.

Electric portal wheel hub system
11697340 · 2023-07-11 ·

An electrical portal wheel hub system is coupled with a wheel and has an electric motor/generator, such as an axial flux motor configured therein and configured to provide power or torque to drive the wheel. The electric motor may be offset vertically from the rotational axis of the wheel to provide additional ground clearance. The electric motor may drive an input gear that is coupled with an output gear that in turns drives the wheel mount and wheel. The gearing ratio can be selected based on the application. A drive axle may from the vehicle may couple with the electric motor and the electric motor may be used to provide supplemental power to drive the wheels. The hub casing may provide mounts for the upper and lower A-arms as well as for a steering arm. The electric motor may act as a generator to charge a battery.

Brake rotor and lightweight wheel assembly

A brake rotor includes a friction portion, a hat portion axially extending from the friction portion and including a top face that is axially displaced from the friction portion and a side wall that extends from the friction portion to the top face, and a nose portion which extends axially from the top face of the hat portion away from the friction portion.

In particular, the first driving module is connected to another one of the first sun gear, the second sun gear, and the planetary gear that is not connected to the output part.

Ultrasonic grip system

Acoustic medium of ultrasonic grip system consists of piezoelectric generator (1), wheel knuckle (9), ball bearing (10), wheel hub (11), wheel rim (15) and tyre of motor-car (20). The piezoelectric generator (1) creates ultrasound vibrations which are transferred through the acoustic medium to the surface of tyre (17). The ultrasound vibration on the surface of tyre (17) results in the separation of the surface of tyre (17) from the liquid (18) that may be found on tarmac (19) during the rain, which results in the fact that despite the unfavourable weather conditions the motor-car has an optimum rolling surface of tarmac. Also, the vibrations on the surface of tyre (17) in interaction with micro texture of tarmac increases the contact surface of tyre with tarmac, which results in the increase of coefficient of friction, higher grip of tyre and reduction of braking distance of motor-car. The ultrasonic grip system is activated at sudden braking, resp. activation of ABS system. Also, the system is activated on the occasion of activating the ESP and ASR system.
