Selectively attachable and detachable axial hub motor

Systems, methods, and other implementations described herein relate to a hub motor for a wheel of a vehicle. In one embodiment, the hub motor includes a cylindrical rotor and a cylindrical stator coaxially spaced from the cylindrical rotor along an axle. The cylindrical rotor includes a rotor attachment to selectively couple the cylindrical rotor to the axle. The cylindrical stator is disposed between the cylindrical rotor and the wheel and includes stator attachments to selectively couple the cylindrical stator to an outer wheel surface of the wheel. The cylindrical rotor and the cylindrical stator are selectively attachable to the axle and the outer wheel surface, respectively, without removing the wheel from the vehicle.

A wheel and brake disc apparatus of a vehicle includes a roadway wheel and a brake disc mounted rotatably to the vehicle, the roadway wheel and the brake disc arranged about an axis of rotation. The roadway wheel extends radially in relation to the axis of rotation to a wheel rim configured to hold a tire adapted to operate on a roadway surface. The brake disc is inboard of the roadway wheel and extends radially in relation to the axis of rotation to a brake disc rim. A brake caliper assembly mounted at a fixed location over the brake disc rim is configured to squeeze brake pads against the brake disc. The brake disc rim includes a tread configured to operate on a rail without interference from the brake caliper assembly.

Wheel hub unit with improved drainage

A wheel hub unit provided with a radially outer ring, stationary in use, a radially inner ring, rotating in use, at least one row of rolling elements, interposed between the radially outer ring and the radially inner ring, and a sealing assembly, interposed between the radially outer ring and the radially inner ring, which defines cooperating with the radially outer ring or with the radially inner ring a shield of at least one labyrinth seal. The labyrinth seal does not have a circumferential symmetry but comprises an upper portion and a lower portion with respect to a symmetry axis (A) of the wheel hub unit and is provided with an angular interruption of the shield made on its lower portion corresponding to the lower side of the wheel hub unit so as to increase an outflow section thereof from the labyrinth seal itself which facilitates gravity drainage of contaminants present inside the sealing assembly.

Wheel hub and method for manufacturing a wheel hub

A wheel hub includes a one-piece hub base body configured to surround at least a portion of a rolling-element bearing, the base body having a first axial end region configured to attach to a wheel adapter and/or to a wheel and a second axial end region axially opposite the first axial end region. An annular reinforcing body, which may be a metal band, is mounted on a radially outer surface of the second axial end region and connected to the radially outer surface at a joint.

WHEEL HUB

A sensor is mounted to or embedded in a wheel hub. The sensor node includes a power source and a sensing device that detects and monitors at least one parameter associated with the wheel hub. The sensor node also includes a communication module that communicates via wireless communication signals and a processing device in communication with the sensing device and the communication module. The processing device collects data from the sensing devices, processes the data, and based on that processing, communicates information relating to the wheel hub to a remote server or network. A mesh network of multiple sensor nodes can be applied to multiple different wheel hubs on a vehicle and communicate with a central processing device. The processing device can thus monitor performance and/or operation of each wheel hub.

WHEELSET BEARING FOR A RAIL VEHICLE, AND RAIL VEHICLE

A wheelset bearing for a rail vehicle includes a rolling bearing assembly (7) with three bearing rings (4, 8, 9), specifically two inner rings (4, 8) provided for connection to a wheelset shaft (2) and one outer ring (9) provided for connection to a housing (6). The rolling bearing assembly (7) is designed as a quadruple-row angular contact ball bearing in an O arrangement, and two rolling element rows (16, 17) are provided contacting a first inner ring (4) in order to absorb axial forces in a first direction and two rolling element rows (18, 19) are provided contacting a second inner ring (8) in order to absorb forces in the opposite axial direction. A rail vehicle with such an arrangement is also provided.
