Vehicle door assembly
A vehicle door assembly with an inner door panel, an outer door panel and a reinforcement assembly. A first attachment area is defined adjacent to an upper edge and a forward edge and a second attachment area is defined adjacent to the upper edge and a rearward edge of the inner door panel. The inner door panel and the outer door panel are fixedly attached to one another and define a hollow space therebetween. The reinforcement assembly has a first end fixedly attached to the first attachment area of the inner door panel and a second end fixedly attached to the second attachment area of the inner door panel. A mid-section extends of the reinforcement assembly extends along the upper edge of the outer door panel. The mid-section of the reinforcement assembly and the upper edge of the inner door panel define a window receiving slot therebetween.

A motor-vehicle door latch device having a latch releasing member and a stopper which are rotatably supported on a base member by each shaft. The stopper holds the latch releasing member so as not to rotate in a releasing direction by rotating from a regular position to a lock position, due to an action of an inertial force caused by an impact force which is received from a first direction corresponding to a direction in which a striker enters an entrance groove. The latch releasing member has a center of gravity which deviates from its rotation center so that another inertial force, caused by another impact force which is received from a second direction opposite the first direction, acts in an opposite direction to the releasing direction.

The setting unit sets the trigger zone to drive the door drive unit on the basis of the separation distance from the detection means to a stopped position.

A door opening and closing device includes: a door drive unit capable of opening and closing a door; a detection means for detecting a subject present in an approach area; a measurement unit that measures a distance from the detection means to the subject; a determination unit that determines whether the subject has stopped in the approach area; a setting unit that sets a trigger zone in the approach area a; and a control means for starting control to drive the door drive unit when the subject is determined to have moved into the trigger zone. The setting unit sets the trigger zone to drive the door drive unit on the basis of the separation distance from the detection means to a stopped position.
