A lane departure warning apparatus that issues a warning for a lane departure of a vehicle monitors a change amount of a location of the vehicle relative to a division line that defines a travelling lane, in a case where the lane departure warning apparatus has detected the lane departure of the vehicle from the travelling lane. The lane departure warning apparatus is issues the warning to an output device in at least one of cases in which (i) the change amount monitoring part determines that the change amount of the location of the vehicle is equal to or greater than a first threshold value and (ii) the change amount monitoring part determines that the change amount per a unit of time is equal to or greater than a second threshold value.

VEHICLE STEERING CONTROL DISPLAY DEVICE

In one embodiment, a system for a vehicle control display device is provided. The system includes a vehicle steering wheel having spokes connected to a steering shaft, the wheel positioned in front of a dashboard having controls mounted therein. The system further includes a flexible display attached to the wheel or a spoke. The system further includes a sensor installed in the wheel to detect a driver's hand position on the wheel. The system further includes an overhead camera and micro cameras installed in the wheel to determine the driver's eye position. The system further includes a processor attached to the flexible display, the sensor, and the cameras to determine which controls are obscured by the wheel and the spokes and for displaying pre-specified ones of the obscured controls on the flexible display.

A vehicle subject to autonomous operation includes one or more autonomous support systems configured to support autonomous operation, a feedback system configured to provide feedback in an interior portion of the vehicle and a confidence appraisal system in communication with the one or more autonomous support systems and the feedback system. During autonomous operation, the confidence appraisal system monitors, based on operational statuses of the one or more autonomous support systems supporting the autonomous operation, confidence in the autonomous operation, and operates the feedback system to provide feedback in the interior portion of the vehicle. The feedback corresponds to the confidence in the autonomous operation, and varies with changes to the confidence in the autonomous operation, to continuously apprise a driver of the confidence in the autonomous operation.

A system and method are provided and include a blind spot monitoring system with a blind spot sensor that monitors a blind spot alert area of a subject vehicle and generates an alert when a secondary vehicle is detected within the blind spot alert area of the subject vehicle. A controller receives at least one of traffic sign data and GPS data, determines whether a current lane of the subject vehicle is merging or is going to merge with a second lane, and expands the blind spot alert area in response to determining that the current lane of the subject vehicle is merging or is going to merge with the second lane.

The rotatable blind spot sensor generates first object data while positioned at a first angle and second object data while positioned at a second angle. A controller receives the first object data and the second object data and determines whether the object is a secondary vehicle located within a blind spot detection area of the subject vehicle. A driver alert system generates an alert in response to the controller determining that the object is the secondary vehicle located within the blind spot detection area of the subject vehicle.

Methods and Systems for Blind Spot Monitoring with Adaptive Alert Zone

A system and method are provided and include a blind spot monitoring system including a blind spot sensor that monitors a blind spot alert area of a subject vehicle and that generates an alert when a secondary vehicle is detected within the blind spot alert area of the subject vehicle. An object detection system detects an adjacent vehicle traveling in an adjacent lane to the subject vehicle. A controller determines whether the subject vehicle has passed the adjacent vehicle and that expands the blind spot alert area in response to determining that the subject vehicle has passed the adjacent vehicle.
