Battery power management apparatus and method
A battery power management apparatus, including a first battery capable of providing electrical power to a first load of a vehicle at a selected time, wherein the first load does not draw current when an ignition system is not operating; a second battery capable of providing electrical power to a second load which draws current when the ignition system is not operating; a first switch capable of disconnecting the first battery from a first circuit containing the ignition system; a second switch capable of connecting the first battery to the first circuit containing the ignition system and is capable of connecting the first battery to a second circuit containing the first load; and an alternator which recharges both the first battery and second battery simultaneously when the ignition system is operating. The second battery provides electrical power to the second load when the alternator ceases to operate.
Sound QR system for vehicular services
A user device includes a storage device that stores a program for a vehicular service, a signal generation unit that generates a certain sound wave signal depending on the vehicular service, and a signal emission unit that emits the generated sound wave signal. When one component of a vehicle receives and recognizes the emitted sound wave signal, the vehicle provides the vehicular service based on the emitted sound wave signal.
Enhanced roadway mark locator, inspection apparatus, and marker
An apparatus for locating, inspecting, or placing marks on a roadway. The apparatus includes a GPS-based machine vision locator for sampling discrete geographical location data of a pre-existing roadway mark evident on the roadway. A computer may determine a continuous smooth geographical location function fitted to the sampled geographical location data. A marker is responsive to the GPS-based locator and geographical location function for replicating automatically the pre-existing roadway mark onto the roadway. The apparatus is typically part of a moving vehicle. A related method is disclosed for locating, inspecting, and placing marks on a resurfaced roadway. A similar apparatus can be used to guide a vehicle having a snow plow along a snow-covered roadway, or a paving machine along an unpaved roadway surface. The apparatus provides for accurate determination of roadway mark locations, roadway mark inspection apparatus and roadway markers using Bayesian model-based filtered enhanced GPS geographical location data.
HEAD RESTRAINT APPARATUS WITH EXPANDABLE SEAT SECURING MECHANISMS
An accessory device for use in conjunction with seats on airplanes, trains, buses, cars, or other moving vehicles that gently restrains a person's forehead to prevent his or her head from bobbing when he or she falls asleep in their seat. The device may have a head retention piece, which may also serve as a sleep mask, in addition to various configurations for securing the head retention piece to seats or the headrest portions of seats having various dimensions. In one embodiment, a base portion is secured to the seat and the head restraint piece secured to the base.
Restraint system for use in a vehicle
A restraint system for use in a vehicle may include a seat; a belt system having at least one belt and at least one belt-adjusting mechanism; and at least one buckle. The belt-adjusting mechanism may be disposed at a first side of the seat and the buckle may be disposed at a second side of the seat. An end portion of the belt may be connected to the belt-adjusting mechanism; and the belt system may have a locking member for locking with the buckle. The restraint system may also include a belt pretensioner that includes a force transmission member; and an actuator configured to actuate the force transmission member for tightening the force transmission member and/or the belt. The actuator may be configured to be actuated and/or triggered by an operator.
Soft close safety belt tongue/latch plate stowage compartment
A vehicle safety belt webbing and tongue/latch plate stowage assembly includes a safety belt webbing retractor disposed in a compartment and a pocket disposed adjacent to the compartment and configured for receiving the safety belt tongue/latch plate therein. The pocket is defined by at least a divider and a door configured for translation between an open configuration and a closed configuration. The closed configuration defines a gap between the wall and the door sufficient for passage therethrough of a safety belt webbing. A damper controls the rate of translation of the door between the open configuration and the closed configuration, providing a soft touch opening/closing feature. The door may be configured for pivoting between the open and closed configurations, or for sliding between the open and closed configurations.
PRISONER TRANSPORT SYSTEM AND METHOD
A transport system and method for securely transporting subjects such as prisoners or persons that include a belt and a slideably engagable channel positioned across a part of a vehicle seat or bench for securing the belt and subject within the vehicle.
PRISONER TRANSPORT SYSTEM AND METHOD
A transport system and method for securely transporting subjects such as prisoners or persons that include a belt and a slideably engagable channel positioned across a part of a vehicle seat or bench for securing the belt and subject within the vehicle.
Dual-opening panoramic sunroof and method of operating the same
A dual-opening panoramic sunroof may include front glass which slides forward and rearward by being connected with a front sled that is slidable forward and rearward along a mechanism rail, a rear glass which slides forward and rearward by being connected with a rear sled, a front timing plate which has a rear end rotatably coupled to the rear sled, and a front end formed with a front groove to accommodate a portion of the front sled, and selectively connects the front sled and the rear sled, a rear tilt lever which is disposed rearward of the mechanism rail, and a rear timing plate which has a rear end rotatably coupled to the rear tilt sled, and a front end formed with a rear groove formed to selectively accommodate a portion of the rear sled, and connects the rear sled and the rear tilt sled.
System and method for automatically adjusting an angle of a three-dimensional display within a vehicle
A vehicle display assembly includes a three-dimensional (3D) display, and an actuator coupled to the 3D display. The actuator is configured to adjust an orientation of the 3D display relative to a vehicle occupant. The vehicle display assembly also includes a sensor assembly configured to monitor a position of a head of the vehicle occupant, and a controller communicatively coupled to the sensor assembly and to the actuator. The controller is configured to instruct the actuator to adjust the orientation of the 3D display based on the position of the head of the vehicle occupant.
