Rigid LCD assembly

Exemplary embodiments disclosed herein provide a LCD assembly including an LED backlight, a liquid crystal display (LCD) placed in front of the LED backlight, a glass plate positioned between LED backlight and the LCD; and an optical film positioned between the glass plate and the LCD. In some embodiments, the glass plate is bonded to the rear side of the LCD, generally around the perimeter of the LCD. Preferred embodiments place a diffusing film within a cavity that is defined between the glass plate and the LCD. Some embodiments also bond the backlight cavity walls to the glass plate, on a side opposing the LCD.

PARKING ASSISTANCE DEVICE

A parking assistance device includes an overhead image generation unit generating an overhead image from a captured image obtained by capturing an image around a towing vehicle, a towing determination unit determining whether a towed vehicle is towed, an overhead image display range setting unit selecting a trimming range from a plurality of display ranges at least including a first display range and a second display range wider than the first display range, and a display image generation unit generating an overhead image for display by trimming the trimming range of the overhead image, and a display image including the overhead image for display on which the towing vehicle is superimposed. The overhead image display range setting unit selects the first display range when the towing vehicle does not tow the towed vehicle, and selects the second display range when the towing vehicle tows the towed vehicle.

Combustion engine electromagnetic energy disruptor

A combustion engine electromagnetic energy disruptor includes shaped disruptor carried in an enclosure, and configured to disrupt, distort, and/or agitate electromagnetic energy proximate a combustion engine and fuel system. The disruptor incorporates electromagnetically responsive constituents dispersed in a substantially water-free resin hardened above about Shore D 60 into a predetermined volume and density. The resin and constituents are combined to have a mass ratio of about 50% resin and 50% powdered constituents. A permittivity of the enclosure does not exceed about 3.5, and of the resin and constituents in combination substantially exceeds about 3.5. The resin includes a urethane resin that is mixed prior to curing into a substantially homogenous dispersion with the constituents. The constituents include one or more of piezoelectric, diamagnetic, paramagnetic, ferrimagnetic, and ferromagnetic materials. Such materials include one or more of powdered quartz, black tourmaline, magnetite, iron, iron oxide, zinc oxide, copper oxide, aluminum, and graphite.

According to one embodiment, a vehicle guidance device is to be installed in a vehicle for providing path guidance to the vehicle. The device includes a plurality of receivers that receives a ranging information signal via a ultrasonic-wave ranging sensor, the ranging information signal including an ultrasonic-wave ranging signal on which path guidance information is superimposed, the ultrasonic-wave ranging signal being for measuring a distance to an object; an information extractor that extracts, for each of the receivers, the path guidance information from the ranging information signal; and a path guide that provides the path guidance on the basis of a distance corresponding to the ultrasonic-wave ranging signal and the path guidance information.

OUTSIDE RECOGNITION APPARATUS FOR VEHICLE

A subject of the present invention is to obtain an outside recognition apparatus for vehicle making it possible to improve accuracy of a distance measurement method based on tracking of a feature point on a camera image. An on-board outside recognition apparatus of the present invention extracts a feature point from an image including an environment around a user's own vehicle, measures a three-dimensional position of the feature point based on movement of the feature point tracked in time series on the image and calculates a foot position of the feature point on the image from the three-dimensional position of the feature point is performed. Then, the on-board outside recognition apparatus extracts a road surface area where the user's own vehicle can travel, from the image using a degree of similarity of a texture of the image, and judges a feature point the foot position of which is judged not to be included in the road surface area to be highly reliable.

METHODS AND DEVICES FOR REDUCING ACTUAL AND PERCEIVED GLARE

Partially transparent devices and methods that reduce actual and/or perceived glare by incorporating absorbing materials are described. Actual and/or perceived glare can be reduced by multi-path absorption in the device. Perceived glare is further reduced by accounting for the psychophysics of human visual perception as a function of wavelength, orientation, and field illuminance.
