Systems and methods for vehicles with limited destination ability
Aspects of the present disclosure relate generally to limiting the use of an autonomous or semi-autonomous vehicle by particular occupants based on permission data. More specifically, permission data may include destinations, routes, and/or other information that is predefined or set by a third party. The vehicle may then access the permission data in order to transport the particular occupant to the predefined destination, for example, without deviation from the predefined route. The vehicle may drop the particular occupant off at the destination and may wait until the passenger is ready to move to another predefined destination. The permission data may be used to limit the ability of the particular occupant to change the route of the vehicle completely or by some maximum deviation value. For example, the vehicle may be able to deviate from the route up to a particular distance from or along the route.

On-vehicle control device
An on-vehicle control device includes: a control unit that controls an attitude of a vehicle based on a value of a behavior sensor that detects a behavior of the vehicle, and prohibits control based on the behavior sensor when the value of the behavior sensor exceeds a threshold; and a travel environment determination unit that determines a travel environment of the vehicle based on image information captured by a camera, and in which the control unit changes the threshold to a lower value based on the travel environment determined by the travel environment determination unit.
Detection of a friction brake fault
A method of identifying a fault in a friction brake actuated by hydraulic brake pressure and configured to decelerate a vehicle road wheel includes detecting, via a first sensor, a vibration at the road wheel and communicating data indicative of the detected vibration to a controller. The method additionally includes detecting, via a second sensor, upon application of the hydraulic brake pressure, a hydraulic brake pressure variation and communicating data indicative of the detected hydraulic brake pressure variation. The method additionally includes comparing, via the controller, the data indicative of the detected vibration with a threshold vibration value and the data indicative of the detected hydraulic brake pressure variation with a threshold hydraulic brake pressure value. Furthermore, the method includes generating a sensory signal indicative of the brake fault when magnitudes of the detected vibration and the detected hydraulic brake pressure variation are greater than their respective threshold values.
METHOD AND DEVICE FOR CARRYING OUT AN AUTONOMOUS BRAKE APPLICATION IN A TWO-WHEEL MOTOR VEHICLE
A method for carrying out an autonomous brake application in a two-wheel motor vehicle. In the method, the need for a vehicle deceleration is detected with the aid of a surroundings sensor system; depending thereon, a driver-independent vehicle deceleration is initiated; once the vehicle deceleration has been initiated, a driver readiness variable characterizing the readiness of the driver to control the vehicle deceleration maneuver is ascertained; and the temporal progression of the vehicle deceleration is continued depending on the driver readiness variable.
ROAD SURFACE STEP DETERMINATION DEVICE FOR VEHICLES
A step determination device includes an operation amount sensor that detects an operation amount of a braking operation member, and a controller that determines a step by using the wheel speed and the operation amount. In the step determination device, the controller calculates an actual variable amount by using the wheel speed, calculates an estimated variable amount corresponding to the actual variable amount by using the operation amount, and executes the determination of the step by using the actual variable amount and the estimated variable amount. For example, the controller determines the presence of the step when the deviation between the actual variable amount and the estimated variable amount is not less than a predetermined value, and determines the absence of the step when the deviation is less than the predetermined value.
ELECTRIC-POWERED ACTUATOR AND ELECTRIC BRAKING DEVICE
The electric-powered actuator includes a control device including: a motor angle estimation unit, and a reverse-input holding control section having a function of engaging an engaging part with an engaged part by controlling a solenoid to set the reverse-input holding mechanism into a reverse-input holding state while the electric-powered actuator is applying a load and a function of, from the reverse-input holding state, disengaging the engaging part from the engaged part to set the reverse-input holding mechanism into a reverse-input holding release state. The reverse-input holding control section includes an engagement intermediate control function section configured to control the estimated rotation angle such that the engaged part and the engaging part come into a predetermined positional relation within a certain period of time, when the engaging part is brought into engagement with the engaged part and when the engaging part is brought out of engagement with the engaged part.
System and method for evaluating the perception system of an autonomous vehicle
A method and apparatus are provided for optimizing one or more object detection parameters used by an autonomous vehicle to detect objects in images. The autonomous vehicle may capture the images using one or more sensors. The autonomous vehicle may then determine object labels and their corresponding object label parameters for the detected objects. The captured images and the object label parameters may be communicated to an object identification server. The object identification server may request that one or more reviewers identify objects in the captured images. The object identification server may then compare the identification of objects by reviewers with the identification of objects by the autonomous vehicle. Depending on the results of the comparison, the object identification server may recommend or perform the optimization of one or more of the object detection parameters.

Controller for a vehicle and method
A controller for a vehicle, a system, a vehicle, a method, a computer program and a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium are disclosed. The controller is configured to receive an indication of a measured speed of the vehicle, and determine whether a gradient on which the vehicle is located is below a threshold gradient. The controller is also configured to provide an output signal to cause a brake of the vehicle to be automatically applied to hold the vehicle stationary, in dependence on: the received indication of the measured speed of the vehicle being below a threshold speed; and the determination that the gradient is below the threshold gradient.
