HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL APPARATUS
A control apparatus for a hybrid vehicle including an internal combustion engine, a motor, and a storage battery and which charges the storage battery with electric power generated as a result of regenerative braking and electric power generated by using an output of the engine. When a planned travel route includes a downhill section whose height difference is greater than a predetermined height difference threshold, the controller executes a downhill control operation that decreases the target remaining capacity of the storage battery. The controller increases the height difference threshold as the estimated average speed of the vehicle during travel in the downhill section increases, to thereby restrain the execution of the downhill control for a downhill section in which an increase in the remaining capacity is not expected due to a large air resistance acting on the vehicle.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR APPLYING VEHICLE SETTINGS IN A VEHICLE
A method and system for applying vehicle settings to a vehicle. The method and system include receiving a device identification (ID) from at least one of: a first portable device and a second portable device. The method and system additionally include identifying a user settings profile that is associated to the device ID. The method and system also include determining if the user settings profile has been updated since a last ignition cycle of the vehicle. The method and system further include applying the user settings profile to control a vehicle system, wherein the user settings profile is retrieved from at least one of: a central user settings data repository, a telematics unit of the vehicle, and a head unit of the vehicle.
Detection of lane-splitting motorcycles
A controller for an autonomous vehicle received audio streams from one or more microphones and one or more image streams from one or more cameras. The audio streams are processed to identify audio features that potentially correspond to a motorcycle. The video streams are likewise processed to identify image objects that have movement and/or visual attributes corresponding to a motorcycle. The audio features and image objects are correlated. If a correlation is identified among the audio features and image objects, then a potentially lane-splitting motorcycle may be determined to be proximate. Actions may be taken to avoid collision with the lane-splitting motorcycle, such as avoiding lane changes, signaling longer, or performing lane changes more slowly.
Vehicle to vehicle communication
The system disclosed herein is for communication between a first electric vehicle and a second electric vehicle following the first electric vehicle on a route. The system includes a controller communicatively coupled to a battery associated with the second electric vehicle. The controller is configured to acquire a set of operating parameters associated with the first electric vehicle from the first electric vehicle and generate an adjustment command configured to adjust a component operating parameter of at least one component of the second electric vehicle based on the set of operating parameters. The set of operating parameters includes charge station data indicating whether a charge station along the route is unavailable for use.
