Systems and methods for reducing vehicle evaporative emissions
10940854 · 2021-03-09 · ·

Methods and systems are provided for reducing bleed emissions and exhaust emissions from a vehicle that may be operated autonomously as well as part of a car-sharing model. A parking location of the vehicle is selected at the end of a vehicle event requested by an operator as a function of fuel system and evaporative emissions system variables such that the solar loading of the parking location enables reduced emissions. The parking location selection is further coordinated with the pick-up time and location of a subsequent vehicle event requested by another vehicle operator.

Dynamic Safe Storage of Vehicle Content

Systems and methods are provided for dynamically protecting transportable articles in vehicles. A system for dynamically protecting a transportable article in a vehicle may include one or more processors and non-volatile memory storing instructions. The instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the system to access sensed data representative of at least one of a characteristic or a trait of a transportable article in a vehicle, determine based on the data the at least one of the characteristic or the trait of the transportable article, select one or more article protection components based on the determined at least one of the characteristic or the trait of the transportable article, and deploy the selected one or more article protection components to protect the transportable article.

AUTONOMOUS VEHICLE AUTOMATIC PARKING

Methods and systems for monitoring use, determining risk, and pricing insurance policies for a vehicle having one or more autonomous or semi-autonomous operation features are provided. According to certain aspects, the operating status of the features, the identity of a vehicle operator, risk levels for operation of the vehicle by the vehicle operator, or damage to the vehicle may be determined based upon sensor or other data. According to further aspects, decisions regarding transferring control between the features and the vehicle operator may be made based upon sensor data and information regarding the vehicle operator. Additional aspects may recommend or install updates to the autonomous operation features based upon determined risk levels. Some aspects may include monitoring transportation infrastructure and communicating information about the infrastructure to vehicles.

AUTONOMOUS VEHICLE OPERATOR IDENTIFICATION

Methods and systems for monitoring use, determining risk, and pricing insurance policies for a vehicle having one or more autonomous or semi-autonomous operation features are provided. According to certain aspects, with the customer's permission, a vehicle operator in an autonomous or semi-autonomous vehicle may be determined by a sensor disposed within the autonomous or semi-autonomous vehicle or a mobile computing device associated with the vehicle operator. A determination may be made as to whether the vehicle operator is authorized to operate the vehicle based upon the determined identity of the vehicle operator; and if the vehicle operator is not authorized, an alert may be generated and/or the vehicle may be caused to not operate. Alternatively, autonomous operation features may be automatically engaged to automatically drive the autonomous or semi-autonomous vehicle to a safe location when the operator is not authorized. Insurance discounts may be provided based upon the anti-theft functionality.

AUTONOMOUS VEHICLE OPERATING STATUS ASSESSMENT

Methods and systems for monitoring use, determining risk, and pricing insurance policies for a vehicle having one or more autonomous or semi-autonomous operation features are provided. According to certain aspects, a computer-implemented method for real-time determination of the status of autonomous operation features of an autonomous or semi-autonomous vehicle may be provided. With the customer's permission, the operation of the autonomous or semi-autonomous vehicle may be monitored to obtain operating data from one or more autonomous operation features. An operating status of the autonomous features may be determined based upon the operating data. After which, a change in the operating status of the autonomous features may be identified, and a report containing information regarding the change in the operating status of the autonomous features may be generated. Insurance discounts may be provided to risk averse customers that maintain their autonomous vehicles, and associated accident avoidance functionality, in good working condition.

DYNAMIC LIMITING OF VEHICLE OPERATION BASED ON INTERIOR CONFIGURATIONS

Systems and methods are provided for controlling operation of a vehicle. An example system for controlling operation of a vehicle includes one or more data collection components and one or more processors. The one or more data collection components are configured to collect data representative of a physical configuration of an interior vehicle component. The one or more processors are configured to access the collected data, determine, by processing the collected data, the physical configuration of the interior vehicle component, select a manner of operation based upon the determined physical configuration of the interior vehicle component, and cause the vehicle to operate according to the manner of operation.

System and method of determining risk situation of collision of autonomous vehicle

A method of determining a risk situation of a collision of an autonomous vehicle is provided. The method includes recognizing a preceding vehicle and measuring a variable factor including a distance or a relative speed between a traveling vehicle and the preceding vehicle. Whether a collision is capable of being avoided by turning or braking is determined based on the variable factor.

Road plane output with lateral slope
11062152 · 2021-07-13 · ·

The present disclosure generally relates to processing visual data of a road surface that includes a vertical deviation with a lateral slope. In some embodiments, a system determines a path expected to be traversed by at least one wheel of the vehicle on a road surface. In some embodiments, a system determines, using at least two images captured by one or more cameras, a height of the road surface for at least one point along the path to be traversed by the wheel. In some embodiments, a system computes an indication of a lateral slope of the road surface at the at least one point along the path. In some embodiments, a system outputs, on a vehicle interface bus, an indication of the height of the point and an indication of the lateral slope at the at least one point along the path.

Managing vehicle-access according to driver behavior

Managing vehicle operations according to driver behavior by: defining a multi-dimensional preemptive driver daily behavior (PDDB) data structure; defining a PDDB abnormal behavior criteria; and defining a PDDB abnormal behavior algorithm. Further, by: collecting PDDB data; acquiring a PDDB assessment according to the PDDB analysis; and preemptively communicating driver vehicle-access instructions according to the PDDB assessment.

Systems and methods for environmental analysis based upon vehicle sensor data

A system for analyzing the environment of a vehicle i) receives a plurality of data from at least one sensor associated with a vehicle, such that the plurality of data includes at least one environmental condition at a location; (ii) analyzes the plurality of data to determine the at least one environmental condition at the location; (iii) determines a condition of a building at the location based upon the at least one environmental condition; (iv) determines an insurance product for the building based upon the determined condition associated with the building; and (v) generates an insurance quote for the insurance product. As a result, the speed and accuracy of insurance providers learning about potential clients and the conditions of the potential client's property and needs is increased.
