AERIAL ROPEWAY HAZARD SENSING SYSTEM AND METHOD
20250026384 · 2025-01-23 · ·

An aerial ropeway hazard sensing system including a radar sensing unit mounted at a position along a ropeway that generates radar data representative of predetermined ropeway conditions proximate the radar sensing unit, and a processor that analyzes data from the radar sensing unit to detect predetermined hazard conditions and to generate a hazard detection signal indicative thereof. A method of performing an aerial ropeway safety function comprises using radar to detect a hazard condition and generating a hazard detection signal in response thereto; generating a control signal in response to the hazard detection signal; and initiating a safety with the control signal.

A skiing accessory comprises a support structure, a mounting arrangement and a lift member. The support structure is configured to support a user relative to a body of water. The mounting arrangement is configured to connect the support structure to a ski boom. The lift member is arranged on the support structure and configured to engage the body of water such that the support structure is raised or lifted, relative to the body of water, by the lift member as the accessory is towed. The mounting arrangement permits the support structure to be pivotally connected to the ski boom about an axis that is generally parallel to the ski boom.

A towing system comprises towers arranged relative to a skiing surface; a pulley on each tower; and a motor effecting rotation of at least one pulley. A cable passes along the pulleys and forms a closed loop between the towers. A towing element is coupled to the cable for towing a user along the skiing surface. The towing system features a rigid member extending along its axis from a tower to a support surface spaced from the tower so as to form an angle with the support surface thereby holding the tower upright. The rigid member is arranged to have tension therein along its axis at the angle with an adjustable length along the axis for tensioning the cable. Also, the rigid member is substantially rigid when its adjustable length is set so as to resist movement of the tower from its set working position. Furthermore, the towing system features a measuring device arranged to measure tensile force in a tensioned member of the towing system for determining tension in the cable.
