Railway traction vehicle with a modular fuel gas tank
A railway traction vehicle comprising a plurality of axles, a fuel gas power unit (112), a fuel gas storage assembly (118) including a predetermined number of fuel gas storage modules (122), and a fuel gas delivery network (120). The fuel gas storage assembly (118) comprises a plurality of identical fuel gas storage module receiving devices (124), and, for each of said receiving devices, an identical fuel gas coupling (126) for coupling a module (122) with said network (120). The modules (122) share a standardised configuration such that each of them can be received in any of said receiving devices (124) and coupled to the corresponding fuel gas coupling (126). They are distributed over said fuel gas storage module receiving devices (124) such that the load on the axles is optimised. The predetermined number is adapted to the amount of fuel gas needed by the vehicle to operate on a predetermined railway line. Preferred application to regional passenger multiple units.

An engine heater system for heating a diesel engine of a vehicle. The engine heater system including a gas turbine. A heat exchanger communicatively coupled to an exhaust of the gas turbine. An electric generator including connection members to couple to a battery of the vehicle, and a shaft rotatably attached between the gas turbine and the electric generator. The heat exchanger utilizes the exhaust of the gas turbine to keep the diesel engine of the vehicle within a desired temperature range, and the electric generator charges the battery when the gas turbine rotates the shaft.

An arrangement for driving a locomotive has various energy-provision systems. The locomotive contains a main energy-provision system as the main system and a drive system. Energy provided by the main system is supplied to the drive system as drive power and is used by the drive system for moving the locomotive. A railroad car carries at least one additional energy-provision system as an auxiliary system. The auxiliary system is used in a manner which is temporally offset from the main system in order to supply drive power to the drive system. Components which can be used by both the main system and the at least one auxiliary system are implemented only once and are used jointly by both the main system and the auxiliary system. Components which are used exclusively by the auxiliary system are arranged on the railroad car.

In one embodiment, a probe includes a first facet associated with a first pressure port operable to measure a first wind pressure, a second facet associated with a second pressure port operable to measure a second wind pressure, and a third facet associated with a third pressure port operable to measure a third wind pressure. The second facet is adjacent to the first facet and the third facet adjacent to the second facet. The probe further includes a fourth facet adjacent to the third facet and a fifth facet adjacent to the fourth facet and to the first facet. The first facet, the second facet, the third facet, the fourth facet, and the fifth facet are located between a first end portion and a second end portion of the probe.

A vehicle may include: a genset including: an engine configured to combust light fuel such as natural gas, a generator linked to the engine and configured to convert mechanical energy provided by the engine into electrical energy; one or more light fuel storage containers; one or more electrical storage devices such as batteries; a plurality of wheels; a plurality of electric motors configured to drive the plurality of wheels; a first power bus configured to electrically connect the generator of the genset, the one or more electrical storage devices, and the plurality of electric motors. Each of the one or more electrical storage devices may be disposed lower than each of the one or more light fuel storage containers with respect to a vertically extending reference axis that is perpendicular to a reference plane parallel to ground.
