Fish bone removal apparatus
The present invention relates to a fish bone removal apparatus comprising a frame (1), a picking member (9) rotatably mounted in relation to the frame about a rotational axis (3), and an actuator arranged to rotate the picking member in a rotational direction. The picking member comprises a first and a second rotating element (10, 12) arranged to form a wedge-shaped gap (24) between them for receiving a bone. The wedge-shaped gap is tapered in a direction opposite the rotational direction of the picking member. The first rotating element is disc shaped and has two parallel radial surfaces and an outer circumferential surface (11c). The second rotating element (12) comprises a bent elongated body having a periphery with a bending radius corresponding to the bending radius of a periphery of the first rotating element, two radial surfaces and an outer circumferential surface (22). The radial surfaces of the first rotating element are arranged in parallel with a plane perpendicular to the first rotational axis, and the radial surfaces of the second rotating element are arranged angled to said plane, so that the outer circumferential surface (22) of the second rotating element is tapered in the rotational direction of the picking member. The first and second rotating element are disposed so that one of the radial surfaces of the first rotating element faces one of the radial surfaces of the second rotating element, and so that the periphery of the first rotating element and the periphery of the second rotating element are positioned on the same distance from the first rotational axis.
Y-bone fish fillet knife, knife blade and method of deboning
The invention is a Y-bone fish fillet knife, a specialized Y-bone fish fillet knife blade and methods of using same to debone fish having Y-bones. Features of the novel Y-bone fish fillet knife and its specialized knife edge include an intentionally unsharpened, or rounded edge, notched groove and an arcuate cutting edge. The rounded notched groove tracks and slides along the Y-bones during cutting. The cutting edge may have other shapes and be dual-edged according to other embodiments. The knife and its handle are designed for ambidextrous use.
Fish descaling tool
The fish descaling tool is adapted for use with a fish. Specifically, the fish descaling tool is a hand held device that is designed to remove scales from fish. The fish descaling tool is an electrically powered device that rotates a scaling cylinder in such a manner that the scaling cylinder will remove the scales of the fish without damaging the underlying flesh of the fish. The fish descaling tool comprises a scaling cylinder, a hood, a handle, a motor, and a power source.
MITIGATION OF INVASIVE FISH IN RIVERS AND LAKES
A method of mitigating the environmental impact of invasive fish in rivers and lakes is provided. The method comprising recruiting overfishing of a species of fish harvested from one or more rivers or lakes in which the species of fish is invasive, obtaining fish bones from the harvested fish, producing a sorbent from the fish bones by drying and milling the fish bones into sorbent particles having a metal sorption capacity effective for treating a metal contaminated material, and treating metal contaminated material with an effective amount of the sorbent to form immobilized reaction products of the metal contaminated material and the sorbent.
FISH MEAL AND ITS PRODUCTION AND USE
The invention relates to fish meal comprising at least 74% by weight of protein, up to 10% by weight of ash and up to 1.5% by weight of phosphorous. The invention further relates to use of the fish meal as a feed for fish, shrimp, cats, dogs, pigs and poultry. The invention further relates to feed for fish and shrimp comprising the fish meal. The invention further relates to a process for producing a fish meal which comprises: (lxxxvi) providing a fish composition comprising raw fish meat and bones, and optionally skin and/or fins; (lxxxvii) subjecting the fish composition to mechanical separation which comprises squeezing soft components of the fish composition through perforations of a perforated drum to obtain a fraction enriched in raw fish meat, whereas a fraction enriched in fish bones, and optionally skin and/or fins remain outside of the drum, (lxxxviii) subjecting the fraction enriched in raw fish meat to cooking, then drying, and optionally grinding.
The invention further relates to a process of treating a raw fish composition to increase its content of protein, reduce its content of ash and/or reduce its content of phosphorous, wherein the process comprises: (lxxxvi) providing a fish composition comprising raw fish meat and bones, and optionally skin and/or fins; and (lxxxvii) subjecting the fish composition to mechanical separation to separate the fish bones, and optionally skin and/or fins from the raw fish meat which comprises squeezing soft components of the fish composition through perforations of a perforated drum to obtain a fraction enriched in raw fish meat.

Food products and methods of forming food products
Disclosed is a food product formed from the leg of a fowl comprising: a) a central leg bone having a foot end and a thigh end, said leg bone preferably being substantially without at least a foot knuckle; and b) a first portion of natural meat originally located around a portion of the foot-end of said bone and displaced from said foot end toward said thigh-end such that at least a portion of said foot-end bone is exposed and such that said displaced portion of meat remains indirectly attached to the bone.
Automatic product diverter for meat processing plant
An automated system and method is provided for separating left and right animal carcass cuts from one another. The system includes a conveyor to carry cut meat pieces along a path. A sensor generates a signal corresponding to the left or right cuts, and sends the signal to a processor or controller, which actuates a product diverter, which moves across the conveyor so as to push and remove selected meat pieces from the conveyor for further processing on a separate line. The diverters are pivotal out of the conveyor path if engaged by meat piece intended to continue along the conveyor path.
Sea cucumber processing apparatus and method
An improved apparatus for processing sea cucumbers having stages for orienting/aligning, cutting, splitting, flattening, eviscerating and cleaning the sea cucumber, and for collecting the eviscerated innards. A method for the automated splitting and evisceration of sea cucumbers using the apparatus of the present disclosure. A flattening plate and trough during the orienting/aligning step relax the sea cucumber and discourage its defence mechanisms. A wedge shaped flattening plate splits and flattens the sea cucumber immediately after the incision. Pronged discs maintain positioning of the sea cucumber during an aggressive wash and brush cleaning cycle, which may be repeated. Optionally, a vacuum may suction off a portion of the innards prior to cleaning.
