Functionalised and Sealed Part
A component comprising a sheet-like reinforcing component having a first stiffness and a sheet-like attachment made of an attachment material having a second stiffness, wherein the first stiffness is higher than the second stiffness, wherein the planar reinforcing component has an upper and lower side and the attachment is connected at least to the upper or lower side of the planar reinforcing component in a first partial area of the planar reinforcing component.
Carrier with localized fibrous insert and methods
A structural reinforcement for an article including a carrier that includes: (i) a mass of polymeric material having an outer surface; and (is) at least one consolidated fibrous insert having an outer surface and including at least one elongated fiber arrangement having a plurality of ordered fibers arranged in a predetermined manner. The fibrous insert is envisioned to adjoin the mass of the polymeric material in a predetermined location for carrying a predetermined load that is subjected upon the predetermined location (thereby effectively providing localized reinforcement to that predetermined location). The fibrous insert and the mass of polymeric material are of compatible materials, structures or both, for allowing the fibrous insert to be at least partially joined to the mass of the polymeric material. Disposed upon at least a portion of the carrier will be a mass of activatable material.
Twenty-foot double stack well car
According to some embodiments, a railcar comprises a first well component supported by a first railcar truck and a second railcar truck. The first well component is disposed between the first railcar truck and the second railcar truck. The length of the first well component is restricted to transport an intermodal shipping container no longer than twenty feet in length. In particular embodiments, the first well component is configured to transport a double stack of twenty-foot intermodal shipping containers. Each twenty-foot shipping container of the double stack may be loaded to maximum weight of 67,000 pounds. Particular embodiments include an articulated railcar with two or more twenty-foot well components.
Structural member for vehicle
A structural member for vehicle 1 includes: a hollow member 10 made of metal, the hollow member 10 including cutout forming portions 12 arranged along a member longitudinal direction of the hollow member, the cutout forming portions 12 each having a cutout 13; and reinforcing parts 20 made of FRP, the reinforcing parts 20 bonded to the hollow member 10, the reinforcing parts 20 covering each of the cutouts 13 in each of the cutout forming portions 12, in which a first cutout forming portion 12a having the cutout 13 in the first region R.sub.1 and a second cutout forming portion 12b having the cutout 13 in the second region R.sub.2 are arranged alternately along the member longitudinal direction of the hollow member 10.
Anti-flutter baffle
A baffle assembly for use in a transportation vehicle, comprising a carrier including an interior portion that includes a plurality of walls extending upward, a rim portion that extends to substantially surround the interior portion and a fastener that extends upward from the rim portion in the same direction as the plurality of walls. The baffle also includes a resinous sealant that includes a polymer that is adapted for thermal expansion upon activation by heat that is located on at least a portion of the interior portion wherein the rim portion is substantially free of any sealant.
Press-Hardened Shaped Sheet-Metal Part Having Different Sheet Thicknesses and Strengths
A press-hardened shaped sheet-metal part, in particular a pillar reinforcement for a motor vehicle bodyshell, which has different sheet thicknesses and strengths, with an unhardened first region, or a first region which is hardened only to a small extent, and with a press-hardened second region, wherein the second region has a larger or smaller sheet thickness than the first region. A transition region, which, starting from the first region, has a sheet thickness transition zone, an intermediate zone, and a strength transition zone, is formed between the first region and the second region.
Deformable rear crossmembers with special extrusion section design for bending down in crash loadcases
A support extrusion for a subframe structure of a vehicle and methods of fabricating the same. In one example, a support extrusion can comprise a multicell structure that facilitates coupling the support extrusion with a rear crossmember of the subframe structure. The multicell structure can comprise a front cell column and a rear cell column that intervenes between the front cell column and the rear crossmember in a longitudinal direction of the subframe structure. The front cell column can comprise a trigger that facilitates plastically deforming the front cell column downward in a vertical direction of the subframe structure when subjected to impact forces of a frontal crash.
FILLER COMPOSITION INDICATING READINESS TO SAND
A vehicle bond filler formulation is provided that includes a part A having curable resin and a monomer reactive diluent. A part B storage-separate, cure initiator package contains a free-radical cure initiator. At least one color changing dye adapted to change color upon mixing the part A and the part B and within ±5 minutes of cure of the curable resin to a sandable condition is present in either the part A or a separate part C, a guide coat colorant, or a combination thereof. A process of for repairing a vehicle body is also provided that includes mixing a part A containing the at least one color changing dye with the part B to form an internal guide coat mixture applied to a substrate of the vehicle body in need of repair. The mixture cures causing the color changing dye to the terminal change color within ±5 minutes of cure of the curable resin to a sandable condition.
HYBRID ENERGY-ABSORPTION FOR VEHICLE BATTERY PACK FRAMES
A vehicle battery pack frame for a vehicle comprising: a base having a length and a width; side members on opposite sides of the base, extending along the length of the base, and attached to a periphery of the base; and crossbeams extending across the width of the base, between the side members; wherein each of the side members comprises a profiled body comprising a sidewall having a first surface facing the cross beams, and an opposite second surface; and a polymer reinforcement attached to the profiled body and facing the second surface of the sidewall of the profiled body.
CORNER PATCH
The present application relates to a reinforcement element (30) arranged to be attached to a profile (10) for forming a B-pillar for a vehicle, which profile (10) is arranged with attachment areas (22, 24) for door hinges, characterised in that the reinforcement element (30) is designed with two elongated strips (32, 34) of material, wherein the strips (32, 34) are inter-connected at least at one attachment area (22) for door hinges when the reinforcement element (30) is attached to profile (10), wherein the profile (10) is hat-shaped with a central flange (12) and two sides (14, 6), and wherein each strip (32, 34) is attached to the transition area (36, 38) between the central flange (12) and a side (14, 16).
