System comprising a tethered sail and a fixed station having means for folding the sail at the fixed station

A traction system for a watercraft, including a sail and a fixed station that includes a mast and a winch which is connected to the sail by a traction cable, the system further including a bottom part that is supported by the traction cable, and fold lines, each of which has an end that is attached to a leading edge of the sail, and another end that is supported by the bottom part. The fixed station includes a base that accommodates the bottom element when the sail is retracted by the winch; and structure for grasping each fold line and pulling same towards the mast so as to retract the leading edge against the mast and fold the sail once the winch has retracted same close to the station.

FURLING AND ADJUSTMENT ASSEMBLY FOR BOAT SAILS
20220009610 · 2022-01-13 ·

A furling and adjustment assembly for boat sails, includes a hooking device, configured to be mated to a coupling for the sail and to a tack sheet. The assembly also includes an actuation pulley assembly, configured to be actuated by an actuation rope and functionally associated with the hooking device in order to transmit, by way of the latter, a furling/unfurling movement to the sail. The hooking device and the actuation pulley assembly can be mutually moved between a condition of mutual engagement and a condition of mutual disengagement, so as to allow the adjustment of the tack point of the sail while a fixed spatial position of the actuation pulley assembly remains constant.

Full beam superstructure lower deck
20210347440 · 2021-11-11 ·

A catamaran having two parallel symmetrical hulls of equal size spaced apart with a superstructure lower deck extending from an outer edge of the first hull to an outer edge of the second hull. The lower deck is positioned above the static waterline and provides a single, constant, flush elevation height across the entire length and breadth of the vessel, with the placement of control and propulsion machinery in the hulls. The improved catamaran has an increased freeboard, increased gross tonnage, and decreased design pressures on the superstructure scantlings of the catamaran deck as compared to a conventional catamaran having a lower deck mounted beneath the static waterline, or accommodations added to the hulls.

An apparatus (100), including: a lower structure (122) configured to be a top of a lower area (102) of a marine vessel (130); and an upper structure (120) configured to be raised and lowered relative to the lower structure. When the apparatus is in a stowed configuration the lower structure and the upper structure combine to form an integrated top (124) for the lower area. When the apparatus is in a raised configuration the apparatus creates an occupant station (400) in which the lower structure is the top of the lower area and also a floor for an occupant station and the upper structure acts as a top for the occupant station.

Maritime drone (1) comprising a hull (2) provided with an upper face (3) and a lower face (4), a centerboard (5) extending projecting from the lower face (4) of the hull (2) in order to give sailing/navigation stability to the maritime drone (1) and at least one wing sail (6). The wing sail (6) comprises a mast (7) connected to the hull (2) and a wing profile (8) connected to the mast (7) and it is suitable to intercept the wind in order to move the maritime drone (1). The centerboard (5) internally defines a containment volume (9) for the wing sail (6), which is movable between an operative position, in which it extends at least partially above the upper face (3) of the hull (2), and an inoperative position, in which it is at least partially housed in the containment volume (9) of the centerboard (5).

Wind-propelled boat having parallel self-righting paired masts for wind-assisted propulsion for boats
11772765 · 2023-10-03 · ·

A wind-propelled vessel is described herein. The vessel includes at least one hull and at least one set of paired masts. Each paired mast of the at least one set of paired masts has a first mast located to one side of the vessel and a second mast located on the opposite side of the vessel. Also, each mast of the at least one set of paired masts has a spar located at or near the top of the mast. Moreover, each one of the spar located at or near the top of the mast extends inwards towards a center plane of the vessel, and an inward end of the spar is connected by a connector to another inward end of another one of the each one of the spar located at or near the top of the mast. In accordance with the illustrative examples provided herein, the connector imparts a dynamic force upon connected spars that responsively pulls the connected ones of the inward ends of the spars to their nearest position when tops of the masts to which the spars are fixably attached move away from a relative nearest position to a paired one of one set of paired masts.

Propulsion system for a boat
11820480 · 2023-11-21 · ·

A propulsion system for a boat comprises a plurality of aerofoils connected to a main mast. At least one of the aerofoils is a displaceable aerofoil adapted to be displaced along the main mast between an open position and a closed position. When the displaceable aerofoil is in its open position the aerofoils together form a sail of open sail area. When the displaceable aerofoil is in its closed position at least some of the aerofoils overlap to form a sail of closed sail area, the closed sail area being less than the open sail area. The propulsion system can include a displacement mechanism to displace the displaceable aerofoil between its open and closed positions; at least one of the aerofoils having a solar panel thereon; and/or a stub mast extending along and free to rotate about a stub axis and connected to the main mast by a stub pivot.
